Bolton v Stockport. 10 minutes gone and VAR has already made a howler. 2 players accidentally colliding isn't enough to overrule a goal that the referee had given. CLEAR AND OBVIOUS!

@danlukeashby Looks quite a balanced squad. Would possibly have squeezed Palmer in but his rationale around his selections makes sense. I think everyone’s starting 11 will be similar and then you are picking Squad players that are versatile.

Having read Gareth Southgate’s leadership book recently, I have a different reaction to this @England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 squad announcement to others. So many factors apply to these decisions that we’ll never know about. The manager has to face media questions that he can’t alway honestly answer, knowing full well he’ll be vilified. E.g in GS’s book, he wrote about two players who’d declined a call up for friendlies. We had no idea and he’d have been slated him for not selecting them. All opinions are valid, but remember Tuchel has to pick players based on a variety of factors, not just whether “he’s a better player than him”.

Appreciate positions aren’t compatible but how on earth is it right to take Dan Burn and Jordan Henderson to the World Cup at the expense of Cole Palmer and Phil Foden? We’ve lost our minds if we think that’s acceptable FFS. Absolutely f**king ridiculous.

Big mistake. Maguire is normally a solid performer for England. This summer, because of the heat, I just feel set-pieces will be massive, and we know what a threat he is from them. I’m not really as excited for the summer as I have been for previous tournaments.

I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision. I completely understand this They have done nothing wrong and would have been preparing to play Southampton in the final. To then change that and give them two, three days notice isn't going to go down lightly
