We could say the same about every league of villains member. Toga could have taken the pain of being looked at differently and strove to become someone who worked to change society. When dabi woke up he could have stepped in and told his dad to stop, I can imagine seeing the son you’d lost end up being alive might shock you. But that’s not the only decision he could have made, he could have rescued Shoto from that house or even other members of his family. Shigaraki is probably the only one I could see be the closest to impossible with how society shunned him and the only person who tried to “help” was all for one even if he caused it all. The thing is ultimately we don’t know what puts people in situations that cause them to make certain decisions. It’s true for endeavor it’s true for the league of villains and that was part of what Deku fought to understand. It’s why he asked muscular but ultimately realized there was no tragic backstory that made him that way and he just needed to be stopped. Or how lady nagant was truly good on the inside and was deceived by those in power. While also making the only decision she thought she could to help society. Which is why when she received the support and hope she needed, she changed. Just like with gentle criminal. It’s why uraraka’s quirk counseling program is so important! There is no genuineness in these conversations because no one wants to see the truth. The world of that time was not black and white.
