sadly, the armed forces follow British system. I have seen widows like this girl getting commissioned themselves and then getting remarried soon with another officer and bagging three salaries home in addition to hefty one time amount, while the old parents, unmarried sisters or unemployed brothers get zero money, zero facilities (CSD or medical) and limited respect. In most of the cases, the definition of family excludes mother father of a soldier if they are above poverty line. Indeed, all the laws / rules in military are only for the favour of wife. This is the bitter and sad truth and I am sure no one would change it. So, please live with it honourable Mr and Mrs singh.
