I will literally never forgive my grandma for selling the family property in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Genuinely what was she thinking

@TheGameSharks The pacing of Two Towers is almost painful in the extended edition. I’m fine with Fellowship but the other two should be theatrical

@Captain_Jedi Extended Fellowship is fine but I still like the theatrical more. Extended 2 and 3 are kind of a slog.

@hiimbobbi I recommended it to my mom based on word of mouth and she was furious that I left her alone to watch it because she was terrified but also laughing out loud so hard in the same scene. Perfect blend of horror comedy- neither sacrificed for the other

I have a question and don’t jump me but is Widow’s Bay a true comedy or is it a comedy in the sense of it being a drama mostly but it has one comedic relief character? I will decide if I’m gonna watch it accordingly.

I feel like “in this gerontocracy, public figures would die and the establishment would conceal it for as long as possible to avoid giving up any power” is the kind of thing Gen X republicans would claim the Soviet Union did as an example of their abject failure and corruption

@jkimballcook I went through and read the opinions and dissents directly and it sure is a whole other world from the people reacting only to the headlines

We cannot keep doing time blindness discourse. It sounds like a lot of you are just repeating these talking points to avoid telling your chronically late friends directly that it bothers you. Go take it up with them!

Maybe the national implication isn’t that DSA is going to sweep in all 50 states, but the national implication is that the old guard is out and there’s a sore need for leaders in touch with the people who have strong convictions. If that’s gonna be DSA then they’ll win!

Utah is celebrating their primaries for the same reason New Yorkers are- they ousted a bunch of incumbents and made it known that business as usual couldn’t continue. Winning races that would’ve been impossible two years ago. People are fed up across the entire political spectrum
Adam Carlson@admcrlsn

I think people are trying to draw way too many national implications from last night. NYC politics is its own beast, as are Mamdani and NYC-DSA. BUT I think there are a few things House Democrats should take heed of: +++ 1) If you’re in a deep blue district (unless it’s predominantly old and Black) and you have had any past association with or funding from AIPAC, DFMI, etc. you better watch your six (👋 Diana DeGette, Shri Thanedar). And if you already survived your primary, I would think very carefully about how you vote on Israel aid packages in the next Congress. And I would do an audit on who some of your biggest donors have given money to. +++ 2) With the exception of seniors, primary voters in these types of districts seem to be increasingly willing to forgive controversial old social media posts, especially if you are perceived to have moral clarity on other issues (like Gaza) or if you’re charismatic. +++ 3) Saying that you’re a fighter solely because you will stand up to Trump is not enough, this ain’t 2018. +++ 4) Identity politics is on its way out the door, even in the most left wing districts in the country. +++ 5) Local party machines will not save you (except if you’re in NY-12). +++ 6) Younger voters don’t care if you bring home the pork to the district. +++ 7) In swing districts (like NY-17) there’s still an appetite for candidates primary voters see as the most electable in the general election.

@unrealpathan I do think Interstellar has grown on general audiences over time but they never disliked it, it was always a spectacle that they’ve only embraced more with the years passing

This is just WRONG lol Interstellar was positively received by critics even if the reviews weren’t glowing, general audiences LOVED it Dunkirk was unanimously acclaimed. What are you talking about?
Max@Maxisntheree

@helenshivered Oppenheimer did huge PR for him because tenet, dunkirk and interstellar (which went through a massive reevaluation recently) all got okay ish reviews and i expect this to be more of that.
