Private Sales. A caravan park is expected, with limited resources, to be able to quickly, efficiently and accurately vet a potential customer then allow them to occupy a caravan on their property sometimes for years. Ridiculous. Starmer could appoint, then sack Mandelson.

Our Industry can’t defend the unacceptable behaviour of the likes of Pat O’Donovan of Prestige @ParksCountry. The caravan sales people, across the Industry, who earn a % commission on a sale price should be avoided. They benefit from inflating prices/forcing sales. @lucy_parry

It is always amazing how a storm will jog a caravan owner’s memory to pay their insurance as opposed to a letter, an email and a couple of phone calls. Perhaps local weather forecasters could issue insurance reminders as part of their broadcast.

As we brace ourselves for #StormÉowyn can we please ask social media users to be respectful of other caravan owners and their property. It can be very distressing for people to learn of damage to their caravans by someone posting on social media for likes/hits/reposts.

@BHHPA We use RPI for our calculations. We need staff to run our business and have to pay them accordingly. They pay mortgages, council tax, rent, building insurance, vehicle excise duty and TV licences. Businesses must accurately account for staff’s increasing cost to continue trading.

The same bad apples that caused good park owners so many problems. We warned many people not to buy from them. We said enforcement was needed, we were ignored. They made a lot of money exploiting our Industry. Ultimately people wanting their ‘dream’ ignored the signs. #Panorama

@Caravan_People The sales people are trained to get round this very point. Unless you are a sales person defending your own tactics or have been on the receiving end I’m not sure you can truly understand the transaction.

@KarenEther50656 It was very clear that the caravan owners disregarded, and site owners relied on, what was written. That doesn’t excuse the sales manager misleading the customer or customers misleading site owners. The councils should have been questioned about their knowledge of each scenario.

@Caravan_People Only so much could be covered in half an hour. Also I think you saw from the programme how what is written is glossed over and ‘explained’ to potential buyers.

@KarenEther50656 This petition is ill-conceived, as the programme showed. Contracts were in place, clearly stating holiday use only. One issue was with the verbal amendment given by the sales person. Ask yourself why did the reporter not investigate the local council to see if they knew about it?

I think people should be concerned about what you say @deandunham . It looks like you misled your audience (as to who contacted you), following it up with another fib to regain some credibility and cover-up your lack of assiduousness, is this the case? @BHHPA @CMAgovUK @LBC

@RobertJenrick @OliverDowden People who admit to using a holiday park as their primary residence, despite telling park otherwise, may be in serious breach of their Pitch Licence Agreement and could therefore have forfeited the right to station their caravan on that park. The park has not made them homeless.

As @OliverDowden has said, caravan parks & other holiday accommodation can remain open to those who use the venue as their primary residence.
