Witnessed a person coming into my local card shop with 2 totes worth of chaos rising blister packs and sealed boosters trying to sell them only to get turned down by the shop owner. Music to my ears

I made the decision to start collecting pokemon cards again around the time that Astral Radiance came out But the first thing I bought was a 3-pack poke ball tin, which included a booster packs of Cosmic Eclipse And I pulled this Lillie in that pack It was my first card back!

Card shows hit different. The smell, the tables, the guy who talks your ear off about 1987 Topps and you let him. What is the best thing you ever dug out of a show bin?

The card that got away still lives in your head rent free. Mine was a raw rookie I passed on for 20 bucks and I think about it constantly. What is the one you walked away from?

@swandogs Love this take. A grail does not need a price tag attached to it, it just needs to mean something to you. What made your grail a grail, the pull story or just how it looks?

The best thing about TCG is that anything can be a grail. What is a grail for you. May not be for someone else. Pokemon, One Piece, MTG, etc. Perhaps your grails are grails because they are the most expensive / sought after Perhaps your grails are grails because you like a certain type. Perhaps your grails are grails because you appreciate the art I choose my grails because they jump out at me. It’s a combination of aesthetics/art, pokemon type and grade. I generally sell the more expensive ones back (unless they are Sylveons). I will never collect slabs that are not PSA or TAG, I think they are ugly. If it’s a card I like, I’ll just wait and chase one from the grader I like. Anything I vault, I have intent to claim and ship home for my personal collection. In my mind I’m not thinking about resale later on. They are grails because I like them. That’s the beauty of collecting, you can collect whatever you damn want.
