The Conservative Party is casting doubt on the legitimacy of Mark Carney’s majority government, complaining it was formed through “backroom deals” and not at the ballot box. politico.com/news/2026/04/1…

We aren’t “casting doubt”. We are pointing out the facts…something the media used to do. Mark Carney secured his majority through backroom deals. Canadians voted for a minority government. He secretly negotiated a majority. Those are the facts!

They're not reporting on Poilievre. They're shoving biased innuendo down our throats persistently. No evidence, just innuendo on repeat. This isn't journalism. It's opinion/gossip dressed as reporting! -Illusory truth effect -Rumor laundering -Perception management Watch⬇️

Why there isn't anybody trying to overthrow Pierre, because everybody supports Pierre except the liberal media who's trying to create a narrative to get the guy who gained the most votes and support from Canada to step down. Well too bad liberal pundits, let's have an election today and see what happens.

@rupasubramanya Pierre is not the leader of the government Carney is? There's more than enough financial missteps and scandals from the liberal government for you to cover, your continued obsession with the conservatives makes me wonder if they paid you off?

What an incredibly daft thing to say by someone whose main credential is climbing the political ladder. Even in the UK, where Mark Carney was far more contested, the criticism was about politics, not competence. Jacob Rees-Mogg accused him of "Project Fear," and Boris Johnson didn't take too kindly at his Brexit warnings, but neither argued he was incompetent or "wrong about everything." And when Carney left, Conservative chancellor Sajid Javid praised his "outstanding leadership." Even his critics treated him as a serious central banker who helped steady markets during Brexit, they just didn’t like what he was saying.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Pierre Poilievre: "Mr. Carney has been wrong about every major economic issue of the last decade."

Leader of the opposition is not the leader of the government the leader of the government is Mark Carney and the party in power or the Liberals so I don't really give a rat's ass about the conservatives right now I care about hearing about what the Liberals are doing. There is a scandal a day why don't you cover that

"When will that famous deal with the US actually happen? By the way, I understand there haven't been negotiations in five months." So now he’s taking the U.S. ambassador, hardly a neutral voice on Canada, at face value, at a time when poll after poll shows how Canadians view the current Trump administration. Amazing.

Pierre Poilievre: "Mr. Carney's been in power now a year. When will groceries be affordable? When will the pipeline be under construction? When will that famous deal with the US actually happen? By the way, I understand there haven't been negotiations in five months. What's happening there?"

In Canada, the CBC serves as a trusted voice that delivers the real news and important stories every citizen needs to hear, thanks to the caring support of our government. Tax dollars from hard-working Canadians go straight to honest journalism that spreads the truth about life in our country and around the world today, acting like nourishing food that keeps strong reporting alive and healthy. The journalists at the CBC do not push any secret plans or ideas that only help certain groups; instead, they focus on what is BEST for all of Canada, from coast to coast. Some voices on the right wing call it 'state-run media', but the clear proof shows it shares fair stories that help everyone understand key issues, even if some right-wingers do not agree. Still, most Canadians—and likely every one of us—know the CBC is a proud part of our heritage, like a strong bridge connecting our vast land with balanced facts on health, the environment, remote communities, and global events that shape our future. It has been a steady guide since 1936, giving voice to all regions and helping us stay informed without bias. Do you agree, fellow Canadians—should this vital piece of our shared story always remain a shining light in how we learn about the world? #cdnpoli #Canada

Mark Carney: we live in a dangerous and divided world. Pierre Poilievre: We bring forward optimism for what our country can be, and realism about where we are today. Optimism without realism is a fantasy. Realism without optimism is surrender. I ask today that we do both.

Rupa will go from making this "PPC" comment to tomorrow saying the Conservative Party is not principled and right wing enough. She has become a Liberal hack out of contrarian hatred for Piere Poilievre. I criticize the Conservatives, I also try and actually make criticism that makes sense. The idea the CPC has become like the PPC is patently insane. If anything they went too soft in 2025 and failed to define a properly ballot box issue for voters, ceding the narrative to Mark Carney to define 100% around Trump.
