Caring Majority Rising is thrilled to announce that we are endorsing @DelgadoforNY for Governor of New York State! ⭐️ Here's why he's our pick: He's listened deeply to home care workers and consumers, has been the highest-ranking state official to rally alongside us to demand accountability, and questioned why Governor Kathy Hochul is giving away our Medicaid dollars to private equity and insurance companies. He's made clear that he values care workers, and that older and disabled New Yorkers deserve better than corporate exploitation - they deserve the dignity of living and aging in their own homes and communities. Recently, Delgado joined our Care Not Corruption campaign launch and signed onto our campaign platform. Among his promises: ✅ Pass Fair Pay for Home Care ✅ Eliminate private equity and private insurance middlemen from NY’s home care system ✅ Reinstate trusted fiscal intermediaries to #SaveCDPAP ✅ Tax the Rich to defend Medicaid ✅ Pass the NY Health Act for single-payer, universal health care And he’s not taking a dollar from corporate PACs! Meanwhile, @GovKathyHochul handed our home care to Wall Street and refused to course-correct even as the evidence of PPL’s failure mounted. New Yorkers deserve a Governor who cares, and with enough people power, that reality is in reach.

We need answers on CDPAP. This is exactly why we have a Comptroller – but he refuses to act. These are not accounting abstractions. These are lives. These are New Yorkers. Time for change. Read my latest post on Medium: drewwarshaw.medium.com/new-yorkers-de…

Join the CDPAP Exodus Speakout! Since PPL took over CDPAP, as many as 240k PAs & consumers have left the program based on the DOH's own data. DOH is denying that there’s been an exodus from the program – forging ahead with business-as-usual without oversight over PPL’s $11 billion contract. We are done with being gaslit! Join us to shed light on the true stories that prove the CDPAP exodus is real, has harmed New Yorkers and warrants true accountability measures in this year's budget! If you are new to Caring Majority's work, hop on a half hour early at 6:30PM for an orientation to our work. RSVP here: actionnetwork.org/events/cdpap-e…

NYCM Statement on One House Budget: We are deeply disturbed that neither the Senator nor Assembly included basic transparency requirements for New York's $11 billion contract with PPL. Handing private equity control over healthcare is questionable enough; doing so with zero oversight or accountability is reckless. At least 240,000 home care workers and consumers have fled CDPAP since PPL’s takeover. The private equity-backed company has been accused of ‘egregious fiscal and operational failures’ in six other states where they previously operated. Basic public reporting requirements are not just reasonable, they’re necessary for the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who rely on CDPAP. We strongly urge NYS leadership to include these transparency measures in the final state budget. @AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie

Excellent coverage from @JournAlvarez on why we are demanding transparency and accountability for PPL's contract. He writes, "No matter how bad one may feel about the situation, if they are not an elder or part of the disabled community, nobody can pretend to understand the hardships lived by Hernandez, Jimenez and others." Read below for quotes from these CDPAP consumers and advocates on what happens when private equity and home care meet. ablenews.com/advocates-dema…

📢CDPAP is collapsing under private equity control! @MichaelKinnucan from @NYFiscalPolicy breaks it down. Denying home care to people with disabilities & older adults is NOT “savings." We need transparency for PPL’s $11B contract!

Have you—or someone you know—been forced out of CDPAP due to the PPL transition due to the PPL transition? The DOH has been gaslighting New Yorkers and denying that there’s been an exodus from CDPAP despite their own data showing as many as 150k workers and 90k consumers have left the program. Please share your story at the form here or call our hotline at (518) 303-2521. And spread the word! We need all hands on deck to fight back and restore oversight and choice to CDPAP.

NOW: Home care workers, consumers, & lawmakers demand transparency & public accountability into NY's $11B contract w/ private equity-backed PPL. As many as 150k workers & 90k consumers have fled CDPAP due to PPL's payment failures, most switching to more expensive traditional home care. @domesticworkers @CID_NY @NYFiscalPolicy @CommonCause

"For those who need care, the administrative chaos had real-life consequences. Renee Christian, a Buffalo resident who has used CDPAP since 2008, said she lost almost all her staff during the transition. 'It’s just making it so much harder to get the care that I need,” she said. “This care allows me to remain in my home, be a mother to my daughter, run my business.'" news10.com/capitol/cdpap-…

We were proud to endorse @DelgadoforNY because he took the time to listen to our members - older and disabled New Yorkers, family caregivers and home care workers, and to fight for a New York that provides health care and home care for all. Delgado was clear that New York State should not sell out our home care by handing billions of taxpayer dollars to a private equity company whose sole goal is to deliver profits rather than care. Governor Hochul's CDPAP fiasco is the epitome of poor management and irresponsible government. New Yorkers demand a full accounting of every dollar, and a system that prioritizes people over maximizing profits. Our members will keep fighting for accountable leadership that fights FOR our families, not against them.
Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado@DelgadoforNY

I’ve decided to end my campaign for Governor of New York. After much consideration, I’ve concluded that there simply is no viable path forward. And though my campaign has come to an end, I fully intend to do all I can in our effort to build a more humane, affordable, and equitable state that serves all New Yorkers. I will also support Democrats in our effort to hold the line against Trump and take back our democracy. I do not make this decision lightly, particularly given that so many have poured their belief into our campaign and are desperate to be given a voice. To those who have supported this effort, especially my incredible campaign team and volunteers, I can’t begin to express my gratitude for each and every one of you. And a special thanks to India Walton, who joined this campaign because she shares this vision and I know will also continue working toward it. To everyone else who believed in us: Please never forget that your voice matters, and its power extends well beyond any one campaign or any one politician. You must always hold people in office accountable, because at the end of the day, they work for you. We, and I, work for you. Ultimately, this decision for me comes down to my belief that to walk with purpose, is to walk with love. That belief has animated this campaign. That is why Lacey and I entered politics nearly a decade ago. That is the lesson we try to impart on our young boys. And that is the same spirit I will carry with me as I continue to serve the people of New York as Lieutenant Governor.

‼️@votejgr: "What are the main transparency concerns with the transition to PPL?" Ilana, NYCM: "You know, just basic reporting that you’d want from a $11 B contract with a company that has never done business in this state before, that has had massive wage theft lawsuits and a history of people leaving the program, and that selects a health insurance provider with a history of fraud." 🔥🔥
