I fell in love with poker at 25, living in Paris, Tennessee. One night at a hole-in-the-wall bar called Lane Taylor’s, the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event was on TV. ~Enter epic cliché~ I watched Chris Moneymaker win it all. I had never played poker before, but I was hooked instantly.
The bar owners mentioned they played low-stakes games upstairs a few nights a week… and just like that, they found their BIGGEST FISH! I played constantly and lost plenty, but I couldn’t get enough.
In 2004, I moved back to Maryland and found World Tavern Poker. It was free poker, but the perfect place to learn. I ended up winning the regional championship my first year.
I had my first WSOP cash in 2009, then life took over and poker took a back seat—until 2023.
Since then, everything has changed. I’ve cashed multiple tournaments, had my first five-figure win, and in the last 45 days, I’ve won my first WSOP-C ring along with two wins in the same series. And by my side, I have an insanely supportive husband who believes I can be one of the best ❤️ @pentupperformance
I definitely do not look like the ‘typical’ poker player—a middle-aged, married woman from a small farm in Maryland—but neither did Moneymaker. And just like he showed the world… I would love to show up for #womeninpoker!
