Every young girl deserves that, and every young boy should be protected from harmful misogynistic influences. My government is making that happen, by backing teachers, calling out misogyny and intervening early. We can stop harm before it starts and save a generation of young men from the influence of online misogynists.

Oggi è detenuto nel CPR di Caltanissetta e rischia di essere deportato in Egitto, dove con ogni probabilità verrebbe perseguitato in quanto oppositore del regime di Al-Sisi e potrebbe perfino andare incontro alla pena di morte. Mohamed vive in Italia da 21 anni e ha due figli piccoli. È una figura stimata da chiunque lo abbia conosciuto, anche da persone con orientamenti politici molto diversi. Uomo di dialogo e di pace, da sempre impegnato nella difesa dei diritti umani, attorno a lui si sta mobilitando una comunità ampia e trasversale, compresi molti cattolici. Questo provvedimento non ha nulla a che vedere con la sicurezza, ma è un attacco politico, dai tratti apertamente razzisti e islamofobi, con cui un governo sempre più autoritario tenta di punire e intimidire il movimento per la Palestina. Mi unisco ai tanti che stanno chiedendo l’immediata sospensione di questo atto immotivato e ingiusto.
