@DietHeartNews dude, care to explain how Crimea ended up in Russia? Anyone writing texts about “civil war” and what followed as if it's some natural progression is clearly trying to justify aggression. Why they’re doing that is a whole other question. But justifying aggression itself? That’s disgraceful, low, and twists everything humanity has ever stood for.

@irvinmunarrizco @CataPaul2 concept of a nation-state really formed in the 19th century; before that, states existed in very different forms. You’re familiar with the Cossack Hetmanate, right? Even Bohdan Khmelnytsky referred to the state he created as Ukrainian.

@irvinmunarrizco @CataPaul2 I’m not from Ukraine, but I know a bit of the history. Ukraine as a state under that name emerged in 1917, and in 1918 the West Ukrainian People’s Republic appeared after the collapse of Austria-Hungary — and that part was never part of the Russian Empire. Also, the modern ⤵️

@meesters_ronald @AdrianP_doc Transnistria is currently in such a poor economic state that it could collapse at any moment. But that also means a fairly large number of pro-Russian residents could gain the ability to vote in Moldovan elections, which might influence the country’s politics.

@AdrianP_doc And Moldava won't join the EU by 2030, tran.Shit.nistria prevents that from happening and even if that problem is solved it will still take decades before Moldava is ready.

If Romanians and Moldovans play it smart for the next few years, we could see reunification in the next decade. This would be a nightmare and strategic defeat for Russia. And that's why the Kremlin is investing billions in destabilizing our countries and pushing anti-EU traitors like Calin Georgescu and George Simion in our politics.

🇲🇩 Poll from Moldova: Support for unification with Romania rises from 44% to 58% if higher pensions, bigger salaries, and full EU access are on the table.

@irvinmunarrizco @CataPaul2 The history of the lands that make up Ukraine goes back over a thousand years. The Russian Empire effectively controlled Left-Bank Ukraine for about 150–160 years, while parts of Right-Bank Ukraine never became part of it⤵️

@jurgen_nauditt When Russia started this war, it probably didn’t expect this kind of response from Ukraine - I just hope that one day it realizes what it’s done to Ukraine, the victim of its aggression, to its own country, and to the whole world… although, yeah, probably not 🤷‍♂️

The key difference between Ukraine and Russia in this war. On the left, Ukraine strikes a Russian oil terminal whose revenues are used to fund Russia's invasion of Ukraine. On the right, Russia strikes a 400 year old historical monument in a residential area. It's not hard to see who the good guys and the bad guys are in this war.

It's been 4 years since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. 12 years since Russia stole Crimea. And European companies are still avoiding sanctions and providing Russia with the raw materials used to make the weapons that kill Europeans. Our leaders' weakness in closing these loopholes borders on criminal stupidity.

NEW INVESTIGATION: Europe’s largest refinery of alumina — the main raw material used to make aluminum — has been sending the majority of its exports to Russian smelters that feed into the supply chain of EU-sanctioned arms manufacturers. From "Ukraine will fall in 3 days" to Ukraine blows the shit out of one of Russia's largest oil export terminals. Any European flirting with getting back to Russian energy imports should know that Russian energy has no future in the EU since it is permanently under Ukrainian kinetic sanctions.
Igor Sushko@igorsushko

💥 Russia: Massive Ukrainian drone strikes blew up vast areas of the Port of Primorsk, Russia's largest oil export terminal that processes 1.0-1.5 million barrels/day - 100 million tons of oil & oil products per year. 1,000km from Ukraine.

@CarstenWestpha3 @AdrianP_doc 2/2 They were indeed times of terror for my Hungarian Baptist parents & other relatives who lived there, & that was almost entirely due to being Protestant. The regime was more meh towards the Hungarian minority than one might expect, but its religious policy was truly horrific.

I was very young when the Ceausescu's were turned into cheese graters but I know Romanians were very happy to see them get what they deserved. They were so happy that most of them didn't notice or did not care too much that the reigns of power and the economy were taken over by people who were instrumental to the regime's brutality and who were very loyal to the them for years before they jumped to the ship of "democracy". In fact, the 15 minute "trial" and execution was orchestrated by their former underlings. Hell, the "democratic" president after the revolution ended up being a Moscow educated communist true believer and the reformed intelligence services and police became mostly staffed with the same people who used to crack sculls and connect car batteries to people's genitals before the revolution. And for the first 15-20 years after the revolution they essentially robbed the country with impunity. And after 36 years, some still hold great power and influence and preventing them from taking us into oblivion again is a continuous and unequal fight. Killing your dictator feels great but it's a fraction of the work needed to build a nation. And I can't even imagine how you go about doing that when two foreign powers are bombing your country.

@RpsAgainstTrump So what exactly did the U.S. get out of this? Too late, too chaotic, and absolutely no plan for what comes next - just like Trump’s politics in general. Pure chaos

🚨 BREAKING: The Trump administration temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil shipments as the Iran war sends prices soaring. A new Treasury license allows 128M barrels of previously sanctioned Russian oil to be sold over the next 30 days. Putin remains one of the biggest beneficiaries of this war.

President Donald Trump will issue a temporary waiver of the Jones Act in response to climbing oil prices, according to a report from Bloomberg. The Jones Act restricts the shipment of cargo between U.S. ports to only U.S.-flagged vessels. The 30-day waivers would allow foreign-flagged vessels to transport petroleum products from the U.S. Gulf Coast to ports on the East and West coasts.

@VersoEuropa As far as I see it, the only real issue is that the Neptun Deep field is located in the same area of the Black Sea as Snake Island, which is basically close to an active combat zone. That obviously creates a risk of sabotage from you-know-who

Romania is set to become one of the European Union’s most important gas producers. The Neptun Deep field in the Black Sea contains an estimated 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas, with production expected to start around 2027.

Today, Romania's Supreme Defense Council will discuss a request from the US to use Romanian air bases and training grounds for operations against Iran. Coincidentally, president Zelensky is visiting Romania today as well. Take a guess who the pro-Russian/MAGA slave "patriots" are asking to make "peace".

The chaos in the world is a direct consequence of the Russian attack on Ukraine, said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. "The explosive situation in the Middle East and drones in the skies over Cyprus are not separate conflicts, but a direct result of the destruction of international law. It all started in Ukraine, when Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, cynically violated the borders of a neighboring country and signaled to the entire world that the rules no longer apply," Meloni remarked in an interview with Tg5. The war in Europe is already underway, and to consider these events "distant" is a dangerous illusion. Without restoring the rule of law, which has been destroyed in Ukraine, the chaos will only worsen, she added. Ukraine Now

@Daractenus Then what’s the point of Trump’s bleating about “urgency”? Is it simply because Putin is his idol? What’s the purpose-what is this actually for? Or is it just that he isn’t a very smart person? Because if that’s the case, I have some very serious questions for the American nation
