@engineeringolf Hmm yeah I never heard that take. Ive always viewed led tape as most of a “fitting mechanism” as it would be impossible to build a golf club/ head that fits literally everyone’s swing/ dynamics. Interesting angle to view it with for sure.

@CaseyMarkey This take is mostly born out of the club manufacturer’s mindset. You always want product to look clean, finished, and well thought-out. If it needs lead tape, why didn’t you just design it that way? Did you rush it out the door? You get the idea.

Never seen the Lead tape is a band-aid take myself. Rather it is a great tool for people to use that don’t have access to other means of changing swing-weight, or adding mass to the head in certain areas to avoid catastrophe in their dominant miss.
The Golf Engineer@engineeringolf

In club design, many consider lead tape a band-aid for poor design or hasty build, especially on woods where hotmelt is an option. Now, deep into golf 𝕏, I still double-take because the culture is 180, a badge of honor. Both true, I suppose. Different seats, different beats.

Things I want to happen at the Masters: - Playoff on Sunday - Freddy Couples to make the cut - Speith to contend - Bryson to Bryson down the stretch - Ace on 16 (ideally by an amateur) - Wyndham misses the weekend

@Versa_Jae I am right around a 7 handicap index and have only posted one round of 79 or better in the last 20. People will typically play worse than par plus their handicap. And and in tipping it at Augusta with the pressure of spectators, that person is not playing an above average round

@Versa_Jae The handicap system factors in difficulty of course, weather conditions etc, AND is only counting your best 8 rounds out of the last 20. Its more of the potential when playing well, instead of what you actually play to most of the time

Id say way higher than that. An 18 capper on a regular track is shooting right around 100 on a normal day. Add in that its the literal Masters, tipping it out with the rest of the field, I think that they would be thrilled to walk of the course carding a 125

And that is the number IF they played well. Realistically it’s probably around 135 if they didn’t play out of their shoes.

@LukeKerrDineen Wow thats actually a lot more distance than I thought it might be. I was thinking somewhere around 3-5 yards was what they were going to pull off, but as high as 14 yards at the higher speeds is insane.

Really awesome scoop here from our equipment team: 👀 Our guys secured a prototype, rollback-conforming golf ball. 🤖Then they tested it using both our robot and with humans. Here’s a tool so you can see how it will affect every type of golfer: golfdigest.com/story/how-much…

@LukeKerrDineen If scotty doesn’t have perfect footwork and is the #1 golfer on the planet, why do you need perfect footwork?

I do this step/sequencing drill a few times every range session. I hit the ball so well doing it that I genuinely wonder sometimes if I’m being an idiot for not swinging like this all the time 🤣

This may be a hot take, but the majority of the time it takes to play 18 holes is not spent with practice swings. It's taking 10min to find your ball. If assume par 72, 18x2 = 36 putts, then she does this 36 times. That's 54 minutes of practice swings. Okay nvm that's wild
Rick Golfs@Top100Rick

Not singling this girl out. It’s an epidemic with young golfers. This is not a video loop. This is one shot! But 1 minutes 15 seconds to pull the trigger shouldn’t be allowed. This doesn’t include the time for setup and planning. At the youth level maybe we actually need a strict shot clock. Have to start early. Once a player is used to this, it’s crazy pressure to change it.
