Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.” “It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.” (Photo: Vatican Media)

The Palme d'Or at Cannes was apparently a film about an immigrant evangelical Christian family whose kids are seized by child protective services. Very interesting. nytimes.com/2026/05/23/mov…

“The Southern tradition is squarely at odds with the Puritan or Northern tradition. The Puritan puts evil in the object---whiskey, a gun, a bad environment, etc.---rather than in the human heart. Once evil is projected into the object, the Puritan is able to justify to himself his right to attack and reform others in the name of his own sanctity. This reduces to a disguised form of a will to power. What the Puritan wants is not salvation but power. He is, in the final analysis, a minion of the Devil.”
