Walking home from an appointment while in Jakarta, we saw some guy pull a covered handcart past us with a lifeless leg hanging over the side. My comp from Idaho (who wanted to join the FBI) decided we should tail this guy. Ended up in this dark shanti where he stopped and his kid hopped out. Non-event but memorable nonetheless.

“You’re in a cult.” . . . . I love when people say I’m in a cult, because it saves time. It usually doesn’t mean I’m being controlled. It doesn’t mean I stopped thinking. It doesn’t mean I haven’t studied my faith, wrestled with hard questions, or chosen this with my eyes open. Most of the time it just means: I don’t like your beliefs, but I want the argument to be over. Cult has become less of an argument and more of a panic button. So no, it’s not devastating. It’s just lazy.

There are so many aspects to consider - body type, character/personality/drive, experience. Impossible to come to a conclusion. However, most American basketballers will have some familiarity with football and vice-versa. Imagine going to a sport professionally not even having ever known about it. When I say football isn’t a high skilled sport this is exactly what I mean. Dude has never played football before and got drafted. You have to be extremely athletic and strong but nobody is drafting someone in the NBA who has never played basketball before. Too much skill in 🏀

So happy you’re back Brother! Well done. When we veer off course from our Heavenly Fathers Plan for us, He will often use the Feather, Brick and Truck approach with us in the form natural consequences of our misaligned choices. The consequences start small (feather) and as we choose to ignore these signs they progressively become bigger until we’re finally hit with a proverbial Truck 🛻 and forced to change course. Sounds to me like you have gone through that process and are now well positioned to help others who are or will be going through the same experience. You have become more like the Saviour and are qualified to say “I know how you feel.” to such people you cross paths with. Love to you Bro ❤️

I remember being like you. I was very devout in rejecting God and the Church for years! I rejected everything. I declared the Church false to all my friends. I had all my favorite snippets to “prove” the Church was a fraud. And oh, my life was glorious outside of the Church! Then God knocked me down. He took (or allowed to be taken) EVERYTHING, in consequence of my own choices, and left me with nothing. And when all I had left as leverage was my own life, God even took that from me, and showed me I didn’t even have the power to take my last breath. And then, in that darkness, I saw the throne I had built. A throne of treachery. A throne of loneliness. I saw the sorrows I had caused others. And as I longed to die, a light appeared, and a hand reached into my darkness and pulled me out. And in that light I remembered the truth. I remembered the joy I had when I was surrounded with my family in love, in the light of God, in the Church! And I saw that nothing I could do of myself could bring me ultimate happiness. This is when I changed course. I still didn’t have a witness. That would come later. But I knew that—as a man who desired to be happy—the best happiness I ever found was with God. And so when I awoke, I returned to God really just as an experiment. Could I get that happiness back? I didn’t know. But I at least knew the direction I needed to walk. And so I walked. Actually I drove—home. Across the country. To parents that were waiting for me in the driveway. My witness didn’t come for about six months after that, when I finally was able to enter the temple again. I’m pretty sure I ruined the experience for everyone else there because of all my sobbing. And it was that same night that I finally received my witness of the Book of Mormon, and of the Prophet, and of the Church—and I have never nor will I ever bat an eye again. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s true Church. I testify of this of my own knowledge and experience, not because of study or hope. And my witness can be obtained by all. You don’t need to go through apostasy—you only need faith. More faith than I ever had, but of which plenty sufficiently have. You are all stronger than I was and am—and so I know if I can have this testimony, so too can you. And I urge you to beg for it until you receive it. Because the Lord needs you! He wants you to be with Him. And I know there is no better place to be. Of this I testify, in His name—even Jesus the Christ—amen.

Georgetown C Julius Halaifonua "Julius Halaifonua had somewhat of a breakout season. The 7-footer from New Zealand averaged 9.5 points and 4.4 rebounds as a sophomore this year at Georgetown. While a lot of his Portal process has been quiet, one school that has been mentioned to me is BYU. Continue to watch if any visits get out or if any other schools emerge."
