It actually changed absolutely everything. The secret of Joffrey’s parentage is the single domino that collapsed the entire Targaryen Baratheon era. Without Ned discovering the truth in that genealogy book, Stannis never marches, the War of the Five Kings never happens, Tywin Lannister doesn't get assassinated by Tyrion, and the political landscape isn't weakened enough for Daenerys to invade. It might not have put the "rightful" Baratheon heir on the throne in the end, but it utterly shattered the monarchy and paved the way for Bran to take over.

Ned Stark died protecting a secret that, in the end, changed nothing about who ruled Westeros

George really ended Baelor Breakspear's story too soon because a man like him could've changed the fate of House Targaryen He had the honor wisdom and strength to keep the dynasty together A dragon without flame and one of the Greatest Targaryens Westeros ever had

@subhampani89 @Teslimatttt Vhaegar is old and slow. I don’t think Daemon/Caraxes wouldn’t be able to exploid that weakness that much against Sheepstealer. That said, I don’t think Sheepstealer would have a chance against Vhaegar

Could Sheepstealer actually defeat Caraxes in a one-on-one fight, or is Caraxes just too experienced?

@1youngMcCoy @Teslimatttt I think Sheepstealer would be a terrible matchup vor Caraxes. S. is bigger, stronger and C. wouldn’t have that much of a speed advantage like agaist Vhaegar. S. probably has fighting experience against the Cannibal. Also Daemon would‘nt kill his own daughter/lover

@Teslimatttt I would guess Sheepstealer would have a better chance than Vhaegar against Caraxes. The speed advantage wouldn’t be as large, but Sheepstealer is still bigger and stronger than Caraxes. It also managed not to get eaten by the cannibal all these years.

@rebelcell777 @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 That’s a fair point I can agree with. Now I‘m curious. What other reasons do you see that Daeron isn‘t a bastard? I can only think of Tessarion, his age and that Alyssant was probably smart enough to drink moon tee after every encounter with Christian

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Daeron is not a bastard also for several other reasons that we are not bringing up right now. What I'm arguing is that the show should not be given the benefit of certain theories that exist in the books because it deleted several conditions for that.

Daeron is Criston Cole’s son and I refuse to believe otherwise. Remember when Alicent was taking moon tea after her secret meetings with Criston Cole? Then years later we get a Targaryen prince who looks completely different from the rest… coincidence?

@jacei2q @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 That’s fair. I think Targaryens cleary have some connection to dragons via bloodmagic or something. But I do think everybody can claim a dragon in theorie. Most just didn’t have the chance or didn‘t know they could. That’s why Martin wrote Nettles

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 I think all Valyrians have dragon riding potential but the ruling government/hierarchies did not permit just any family to be dragonlords, Also again Aegon the conqueror had a Velaryon mother. The Targaryens have been wedding Velaryon’s for a while.

@fyeahhrhac @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Thanks. What I meant was even in F&B it’s said that the dragonkeepers know more about dragons than anybody else. Yet nobody ever got tempted to claim Vermithor? How do they get recruited? (After Jaehaeres) Why do they have the knowledge? Do they speak valyrian only in the show?

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 And have a belief that only Targaryen royalty should ride dragons (which is why they had a strike when Rhaenyra suggested having dragonseeds mount the unclaimed dragons). In the books, they were just 77 of them to guard and keep unauthorized people from claiming dragons. 2

@rebelcell777 @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 You‘re arguing against ghosts. I don’t even think Daeron is a bastard. The timeline doesn’t fit. I was only talking about dragonbonding. The books are pretty obvious like you said. The show never mentioned, that Corlys has Targaryen blood and Ulf is pretty much guessing

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Lol the show claimed nothing like that. It erased the only character that could have raised the question and gave her dragon to a Targaryen princess. You all just want to find any excuse to give Alicent a "strong boy" to keep circlejerking.

@jacei2q @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 you‘re second point is legit. But where does this valyrian blood thing come from? Valeryons and Celtigars never showed any connection to dragons at all and all the other dragonlords died during the doom. It‘s either only Targaryan can bond with dragons or everybody can

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Also forgot to mention Velaryons and Targaryens interbreed with Targaryens so Corlys has Targaryen blood in him. Just like Baratheons who also likely carried Valyrian blood even before they started marrying Targaryens

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Corlys does have Targaryen heritage through the various marriages Targaryens and Velaryons have had. But also, in the books, it is said that the boys are Laenor’s bastards and are much younger (it’s only a rumor that they are Corlys’s) and Rhaenyra recognized them as Laenor’s.

@vminjnk @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 yes you‘re correct on the intermarriage. My bad. I just think targaryan were pretty much the only ones with the opportunity. If you control dragonstone, you control all access to dragons and their eggs. Many houses have some drops of targaryen blood.

@vminjnk @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Valeryons were no dragonriders in old valyria. Only „special“ familys like the Targaryen were dragonlords. Where does this Valyrian Blood thing come from? House Celtigar has no dragons neither. Valeryons only after Rhaenys married Corlys

@fyeahhrhac @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 oh yes you’re correct on Corlys. I forgot, that they intermarried before him and Rhaenys. But I doubt that they are Laenors bastards. It’s of course possible, that a gay young man impregnates a woman, but I think it‘s unlikely. Why didn’t he impregnate R. then?

@rebelcell777 @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 My rules? I was just pointing out that both the books, and the show suggest that the targaryen blood thing could be just a myth. Martin loves open questions like this. There‘s even speculation that the Hightowers might have old old valyrian blood (who the f build the tower?)

@Caspich @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Again, appealing to GRRM material like he hasn't bashed the show enough for the continuity errors derived by deleting his own characters, including Nettles herself. Live by the rules you created now.

@SwedishBuries @theweirdinggay Martin explained that Dragons don’t really leave their territory (which is Dragonstone) without a rider. Otherwise there would be Dragons everywhere. Even if it sounds ridiculous to me and Cannibal did leave at the end… Sheepstealer is only in the show in the vale.

Maul Atreides 🇮🇪 17/50 📚 IWTV - HOTD SPOILERS
"Why wouldn't the Targs know that dragons can do that?" When was the last time a dragon was in a position to heal after being mauled to near-death? The nearest thing we have recorded is Balerion's injuries from Valyria, and how he became slow and sluggish after returning.
Maul Atreides 🇮🇪 17/50 📚 IWTV - HOTD SPOILERS@theweirdinggay

I admit that the idea of a dragon going into a death-like torpor in order to heal injuries is a little silly, but also lmao, why the fuck not? Is it really the most insane thing asoiaf expects us to suspend our disbelief for?

Barristan Selmy is proof that being a great warrior doesn’t make you a great man. Fans call him honorable, but what honor is there in standing silently while Aerys burned innocent people alive? He watched the Mad King descend into madness. He watched the realm suffer. And he did what he always did. Nothing. The greatest knight in Westeros was a spectator with a sword. “Barristan the Bold” was the wrong title all along. “Bystander Selmy” like some people called him fits better. What’s the most heroic thing Barristan ever did that wasn’t simply following orders?

@Finalcine @Creativemelody1 If Addam is Corly‘s bastard then he doesn’t. Ulf‘s claim is all based on a red priest, who are wrong a lot of times. Nettles heritage is completly unknown in the books and she‘s the only one ever to claim a wild dragon

@rebelcell777 @Finalcine @Creativemelody1 Laenor is gay in the books too… it‘s strongly implied, that Addam and Alyn are Corlys sons in the books as well. Also why do you think Martin created the character of Nettles? She might be Daemons daughter, but more likely she‘s just a nobody
