It appears the day of mourning announced earlier today by the Prime Minister is for *federal government employees* - Federal Minister of Labour clarified that it does not (as of now) apply to federally regulated employers. TBA whether provinces and territories announce a holiday.

I received a lovely response in return, that he remembered me (many) years later, and to reach out if I ever needed anything or visiting the area. It's the connection with others that I've missed most during the pandemic - and sometimes all it takes is reaching out!
