Leaving a flat in Bangalore… and losing most of the deposit 😳 Charu Gupta shares: I was living in a 3BHK flat in Bangalore with two roommates. When we moved in, we paid a ₹70,000 security deposit. After some time, the owner suddenly asked us to vacate because he wanted to sell the flat. We agreed and moved out peacefully. But the shock came later…Out of ₹70,000, he returned only ₹18,000 🤯 He deducted one month’s rent, saying the flat would need painting and repairs, and since no one would stay during that time, he would face a loss. But how is that the tenant’s responsibility? If he had informed us earlier, we could have helped find a new tenant. On top of that, he also deducted money for damages that were already there. We had informed him about those issues earlier, and at that time he told us to get them fixed ourselves. He owns around 10 flats in Bangalore… so what does he really gain by holding back a tenant’s deposit like this? Now I’m planning to send him a legal notice. If he doesn’t respond within 15 days, I may have to take the matter to court. He has even blocked me on WhatsApp, so there’s no way to talk and resolve this directly.

@CastleLaa @SpacemanZients @techdroider For banking apps, it's around 10% banning using another OS. There are generally alternatives. Google bans using another OS for their own tap-to-pay but there are multiple alternatives in the UK and EU. In the US, some of our users use a Garmin or Pixel watch for tap-to-pay.

This is my device, bought with my own money… just let me use it however I want. I want to install APKs whenever I want, sideload apps, unlock the bootloader, root the device, and run whatever I choose. It’s my phone, I paid for it, and I take full responsibility for it. If I make a mistake, that’s on me. Stop forcing restrictions on everyone and treating users like they can’t decide for themselves.

@CastleLaa @SpacemanZients @techdroider There's the option to install Sandboxed Google Play in a profile for apps depending on it. That provides nearly perfect compatibility with Play Store apps. There's also a per-app exploit protection compatibility mode toggle for apps broken by the GrapheneOS exploit protections.

A weak rupee is great for IT exporting companies, which hire most of our youth. Importers will have a problem but they can instead purchase Made in India goods. A huge portion of our economy which is remittance based will also get boosted. Talented youth will stay in India as foreign education becomes unaffordable, stopping brain drain. People will also avoid foreign travel, benefitting Indian tourism. The new Deep State, which is busy fighting old Deep State, cannot see India winning and has started funding the usual suspects to make a hue and cry about weakening of INR. We must remain careful.

In India, the cheapest burger at McDonald’s costs around ₹50. In the US, the cheapest burger costs about $4, which is roughly ₹300+. That makes it almost 6–7 times more expensive. But for most other things, the price difference is usually around 3–5 times. So why is food in the US so expensive? Because they are actually selling quality food. In India, brands focus on making food cheaper. To reduce cost, they use lower-quality ingredients. Instead of real paneer, cheaper substitutes are often used. Street foods marketed as “protein-rich” are mostly made from refined flour. Many packaged snacks use palm oil. Even chocolates differ. In the US or Europe, chocolates have more cocoa and less sugar. In India, sugar is increased, cocoa is reduced, and cheaper oils like palm oil are used. Some products are even made to feel bigger with more air in the packet. Why does this happen? Because Indian consumers mostly focus on affordability. Better hygiene, trained staff, good oil, and quality ingredients all increase cost. And companies avoid that to keep prices low. This creates a cycle: People don’t pay more → brands cut quality → low-quality food becomes normal. Until this cycle breaks, either by consumers paying more or brands improving standards, the quality of food will remain compromised.
