@LeilaniDowding I agree with you on a lot of things but not this. Humans are nature too. I don’t see any rare animals or real damage being caused.

Humans are a cancer. Self entitled selfish twats The signs not to swim are enormous. Every single one of these people should be called out. The saddest clip is the swan trying to roll her egg back under her in the water…. How many eggs will go unincubated because they were disturbed? This is what entitlement looks like! 🤬 There are nesting waterbirds on this pond on Hampstead Heath... there are also big 'No Swimming' signs, all being totally ignored! 🤬 Pure selfishness... 😒🤬🤬 (Shared from Instagr*m with permission from 'swansofhampsteadheath')

@AJManaseer Probably same person that says bikes slow cars down when they use the road. My child cycles to school and I cycle to work all year round. It’s a great way to exercise and work on resilience and independence.

The bike lane people have woken the sleeping giant: the 99% of people who are inconvenienced by them. Bike lanes are an idea born of Woke Era nonsense and anti-car hysteria. People who think they are eco-friendly are wrong. The congestion and longer drive times negate the carbon offset of the 1% of commutes that convert to bikes. The safety argument falls apart when you learn the bike lane lobby doesn’t support the single action you can take to make riding a bike safer: wearing a helmet. (They oppose helmet mandates because they lower overall bike ridership, which lowers the bike lobby’s political clout.) Even if this aldermanic challenger running on an anti bike lane platform loses, we have still seen the peak of the bike lane nonsense. They are becoming too hot of a potato for the average politician to stick their neck out for. We’re winning. No more tyranny of the minority.

Didn’t expect to kick off my 2027 aldermanic thread w/a bike lanes story, but here we are: chicagotribune.com/2026/05/25/chi… 1st, 3rd & 12th ward cameos along w/Urban Center fingerprint. We’ll get a preview of their impact in school board races, they’ve been doing some targeted organizing.

@ediz1975 I don’t think these people driving cars should be sat in housing estates. The congestion though comes from the number of people choosing to drive.

@NotFarLeftAtAll These supermarkets really are bad. Notice how it says price matched with aldi. I’ve checked and aldi have been cheaper despite this. The rip us off and treat their employees like shit. They’re also putting our farmers out of business and making tons of money.

@XimenaHinojosa Generally I don’t mind when a scooter or motorcycle human uses the bike path. This is the legit ones, they’re always courteous IME. It’s the bell ends on the stolen bikes that cause issues who I assume have no license either.

Una joven ciclista impidió el paso de motociclistas por el carril exclusivo de ciclistas. La patrulla que estaba a un lado no hizo ningún esfuerzo por pedirles a los motociclistas que salieran del carril.

@Boenau Take something that was built for going off road, spend a fortune on it so that it can no longer go off-road. 🤣🤔

@CatDogBla @GordonDimmack You have overlooked the fundamental geographical characteristics of China and the UK. The natural disasters in China are far more complex than those in the UK.

UK news: HS2 could cost up to £102.7bn and may not open until 2039 (BBC) This is Chongqing railway station rebuild in China. It cost £16.5bn and took only around 3 1/2 years to complete. Their high speed rail (350km/hr) cost just £5.9bn and took 6 years

@RichardWellings The MOT in principle is probably a good thing to be fair. A lot of people take no interest at all in maintaining their vehicles and would happily keep driving them until the wheels fell off or rust ate its way through the brake lines

A bogus concern for road safety is being used as a pretext to accelerate the anti-car agenda. MOT tests are already a scam, with minor, irrelevant infractions used to impose bills of hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds. It's likely the costs far outweigh the benefits.

@liufeisfw @GordonDimmack To a certain extent yes, but if we look at the lives lost in China vs England on major infrastructure projects like these the numbers on China’s books are way worse than in England. There was also that bridge the opened and suffered partial collapse same year - Hongqi Bridge.

@LUNAECONOMY @GordonDimmack 2/2 strict regulations, codes, long-term durability, and safety. Its projects prioritize resilience, environmental integration, and maintenance. Infrastructure quality rankings often place the UK higher in perceived reliability and governance.

@LUNAECONOMY @GordonDimmack • China achieves impressive feats but faces criticism for occasional quality issues, corner-cutting in the rush to build, and a higher incidence of incidents (e.g., bridge collapses during or shortly after construction, safety records in construction). • UK emphasizes 1/2
