@FemCondition Regardless of whether it’s a sacrifice or not, it’s an absurd comparison to assume the same amount of time an effort is required for a single person as it is for a family.

@LAURAJOJO @ShakeLS So am I. He wouldn’t make a speech on a State visit without government approval and vetting but it is unlikely that he didn’t have at least some input into its content and style.

I don't think many realise that King Charles read a speech the government prepared for him 😂. That's what a monarch does. I mean. Get a grip hahahaha 😂

@GatehouseTwenty @WorkElizab So did I. The worst was steamed fish on a Friday. An anonymous square of white rubbery flakes. I couldn’t even cope with the smell. But then my mum was an exceptionally good cook so I suppose I was spoiled.

@WorkElizab Yes, I do remember school dinners. The food was overcooked, tasteless & unpopular. Stodgy & unappetising. Flabby cabbage boiled to death. Lumpy, bland mashed potato. Pale, thin custard As soon as I was allowed to take sandwiches to school I opted out of school dinners

@PolitlcsGlobal The don’t feel English any more than the Scots or Welsh feel English. They are Falkland Islanders and British.

🚨🇫🇰 NEW: Argentina’s Vice President says Falklanders should go back to England “If they feel English, they should go back to the thousands of miles away where their country is”

@josemerodeador @hail_ivan12 @Lunassnacks @MosiniElisa That was the French settlement on East Falkland not the British West Falkland settlement. The French may have relinquished their claim but the British did not. The Spanish drove out the British in 1770 by military force but withdrew in 1811. Argentina wasn’t a state until 1816.

@CatherineHall16 @hail_ivan12 @Lunassnacks @MosiniElisa In 1765 the French handed over the "Malouines" colonies to the Spanish through negotiations and monetary compensation (Louis Antoine de Bougainville). The Spanish name "Malvinas" is derived from the French "Malouines" after the port of Saint Malo in France.

Argentinians, you can insult and threaten me as much as you want. I’m not afraid to say the truth: your claim over the Falklands is a form of violence against the inhabitants who have lived on the islands for almost two centuries. The Falklands are British.

The US wants to punish the UK and could reassess its support for the UK over the Falkland Islands, potentially giving leverage to Milei’s claims over the islands. Guys, let's be clear: The Falkland Islands are British. And their people overwhelmingly voted to remain British.

@DarklySardonic @RebelRancher @ma1ybe Good. So presumably you now understand that your experience of childbirth though similar to many women, may not be the same for many more. Delivering a human baby is generally more challenging than it is for most mammals. Natural doesn’t necessarily mean safe.

@CretinodeNadie @odinsbadeye @QuetzalPhoenix The Falkland Islands didn’t have any indigenous people when they were discovered by Europeans in the 18th Century. Any population after that could considered imported, whether Europeans or Argentine.

Argentina doesn't recognize the Falkland Islands as legitimate because they claim the UK imported a completely artificial population for purely political reasons. Any vote made would not be valid. The UN agrees. If they are correct, what would that say about London?
WarMonitor🇺🇦🇬🇧@WarMonitor3

Argentina has called for renewed talks over Britains sovereignty over the Falkland Islands. I just cannot believe this is happening...

@DarklySardonic @RebelRancher @ma1ybe Here’s a basic AI summary for you. Yes sure some women have an easier time than others but we all have more difficulty than most other mammals, even when there are no complications.

@DarklySardonic @RebelRancher @ma1ybe I’m basing it on my ability to study subjects like human biology. Don’t you walk upright? Did your baby not have quite a large head compared to its body? Do you have a pelvis more like a cow than a human? Although of course cows aren’t immune to painful difficult deliveries.

Active labor is bearable as well. Early labor is where you can still do anything, cook dinner, do bed time for other kids, go on a walk, go out to eat. I’ve literally done it twice. It’s not bad. Women are just so weak these days that they can’t handle the slightest bit of being uncomfortable for something they’re built to do & that every single other mammal does without pain meds & with ease. It’s ridiculous to me. I’m definitely allowed to have that opinion. Birth has been turned into a medical event when for the majority it doesn’t need to be.

@RebelRancher @DarklySardonic @ma1ybe Oh so now it’s only early labour that is bearable. Stop shifting the goal posts to justify guilt tripping other women for making different choices or for following medical advice.

@AgtLombardini @MosiniElisa Spain had a military presence rather than any civilian settlement. France, Spain and Britain variously contested ownership. The UN did not out right reject the referendum. They maintain that negotiations not referendum alone should settle any dispute between UK and Argentina.

@CatherineHall16 @MosiniElisa 1) The United Kingdom left the islands in 1774 and Spain ruled until 1811. 2) Argentina inherited the territory and formed a civilian colony. 3) In 1833, the UK did not "take control" but rather usurped it militarily and expelled the Argentinians 4) The UN rejected the referendum

@josemerodeador @Lunassnacks @MosiniElisa It was a military garrison. The islands were not settled by Argentine civilians. The British had maintained a claim since their first settlement was established in 1775. As far as Britain was concerned the Argentine garrison was an illegal occupation.

@Lunassnacks @MosiniElisa Whether there has ever been an indigenous South American population is not known. It was uninhabited when Europeans landed. The Spanish were the first but the British founded the first settlements. The current population of the Falklands is predominantly of British descent.

@josemerodeador @Lunassnacks @MosiniElisa It certainly is hypocrisy to compare a referendum held with full scrutiny from international observers with one held in occupied territory by the occupiers and with a significant proportion of the population displaced.

@CatherineHall16 @Lunassnacks @MosiniElisa Those who live in the Donbas voted to be Russian, just as those who live in the Falklands voted to be British. Some call it a double standard. Others call it hypocrisy. And hypocrisy is the reason why Europe is left alone.
