The problem with too much capitalism isn't too many capitalists, but too few.

@OVTweetmarck In all honesty most of the technology questions were about how AI risks dehumanising people and society as a whole, which I agree with, even though I don't actually oppose technology inherently.

@uubzu I got all of these except for (maybe) the very first one. Reading it again, though, I actually did understand the first half of the choice ("the number"), but what the hell does "the letter of this sentence" even mean?

I’m not being facetious when I say that I doubt more than half of the American electorate could pass this literacy test, not if you have to get it perfect What do you think

@exanxc It was never in any manifesto. No one voted for it and polls have shown no one wanted it. The Liberals in conspiracy with Labour pushed through the '67 act, and the new amendment was tabled by female life-peers, two of whom aren't British by ancestry.

In my country, abortion and homosexuality are illegal under laws left by British colonizers, and we have kept them unchanged despite international pressure, because even this majority-Buddhist society values unborn life. How did the British go from that to this?

If a baby is born 1 month prematurely, and I suffocate it, that is murder. However, a mother can now 'abort' her child at 8 months in the UK and face no legal consequences. This was passed as law, despite only 1% of the public supporting it. Is this democracy? Really?

@Killdeerrr It's 2.5% of the entire working-age population per year, and there haven't been any reassessments since 2019, so this is cumulative.

@lyndarenner25 @tigertunesusa @Catholic_bro I'm directly referring to Amos which you are using as your proof text. Amos doesn't actually suggest those sacrifices are no longer commanded, but either way if you define rituals as described therein, then that doesn't apply to Christian Sacraments.

It was already legal to terminate an unviable pregnancy at any stage to exceptional circumstances: To save the mother's life, prevent grave permanent injury to her health, or in cases of severe fetal disability but it had to be carried out in a hospital. They have just made it legal to abort a baby up until birth or any reason and thanks to ‘pill by post’, it could be done via a telephone call, lying about gestation age, take a pill, no medical care - giving the baby a prolonged death and putting the life of the mother at risk.

@Catholic_Briton @tigertunesusa @Catholic_bro Amos 5.. God did away with them In John 4, we are called to Worship in Spirit and in Truth. No rituals mentioned here. We are to worship Jesus and Him alone and everything must be Truthful, in accordance to Scripture. Not what some 4th century church invented.

Monstrous as the change is, it's worth noting that the Lord's amendment doesn't legalise abortion, but rather deems women incapable of moral responsibility for it. It's an amendment sponsored by women, premised on the notion that women have the same level of agency as children.

@Catholic_Briton @tigertunesusa @Catholic_bro Baptism is NOT a Ritual, neither is a wedding a ritual, Passover is not a Ritual. Amos 5... God is done with Rituals. We are called to Worship in Spirit and in Truth. John 4:24 No more Rituals. Not anything else or anyone else. Just worship Jesus in spirit and in Truth

…related to abortion (whenever committed) Does this mean a fetus can be legally aborted right up until just before full term birth. So you’re a patient at full term with a normal healthy fetus and in labor. The fetus is crowning and the mother decides “this is not for me because I have mental health concerns” then legally a medical provider could terminate the partially expelled fetus ( not full delivered, technically still pregnant) extreme example but I’m trying to understand the law. You might argue no doctor would do this. Who knows.

Proud to have put my name to this important amendment to Clause 208 which seeks to decriminalise women who have abortions & have just spoken in the debate currently underway in the House of Lords.

@lyndarenner25 @tigertunesusa @Catholic_bro If rituals were done away with, why did Christ undergo the presentation at the Temple? Why did he undergo baptism? Why did he attend a wedding? Why did he celebrate Passover? If rituals are irrelevant, why did Christ suffer to be sacrificed when he could have saved us without it?

@tigertunesusa @Catholic_bro They were irrelevant, due to their hearts being stone toward God. They would do the rituals (actions) but they had no compassion for God Almighty and His Words and no compassion for other people around them. Sound very, very familiar!!!! Go a ritual and go home and be bitter.

@UlvarrActual @InsaneCope The only remotely close to reasonable answer aside from divine endowment (my personal belief) is that it arises from a series of evolutionary beneficial practices that calcify into cultural norms and eventually into moral mandates.

@SandyofCthulhu Notice that the only justifiable reasons for killing are proper to justice, not charity. Limiting suffering is therefore not a sufficient reason, so medical culling does not meet the criteria for justifiable killing and remains a culpable evil.

@SandyofCthulhu A culpable evil is what we would call sin. There are circumstances where killing another is justified i.e. becomes a non-culpable evil, but this always involves some form of defence, either of the individual, others, of property, or of the polis....
