Joe Biden
Joe Biden@JoeBiden·
Generation after generation, men and women put on the uniform knowing the risk — and went anyway knowing they might not come home. Knowing their families would carry that for the rest of their lives. To the families still carrying that weight — I see you. The pain doesn’t go away, but neither does the pride. Freedom has never been guaranteed. It has to be earned, defended, and sometimes paid for in the hardest way imaginable. Today on Memorial Day, we stop, we slow down, and we remember those who did. We honor them. We thank them. And we work hard to live up to what they died for. Keep the democracy they believed in worth believing in. That is the ultimate tribute for their sacrifice.

People say Trump is a moron. But turning America into North Korea is quite a remarkable accomplishment. Nothing like it has ever been done before. That certainly requires a type of talent. richardhanania.com/p/trump-does-h…

Republicans said it would bankrupt Massachusetts Just the opposite .. taxing the wealthy has allowed “all boats to float” to provide a funding boost for schools, public transit, roads etc and “❌millionaires didn’t flee” “The state’s surtax on its highest earners has already generated more than $3.1 billion in revenue this fiscal year, with still two months to be counted, likely leaving lawmakers with a generous surplus to dole out next spring. The amount, disclosed in a letter released by the state Department of Revenue, 💰💰already tops the $3 billion the state collected from the so-called millionaires tax during fiscal year 2025. It also 💰💰far surpasses the $2.4 billion the state projected to spend from the levy in the fiscal year that ends next month. The constitutional amendment approved by voters in 2022 applies a 4 percent surtax on annual income “in excess” of $1 million. But the measure also included a trigger linking that seven-figure threshold to any changesin the cost of living, meaning the amount someone has to earn to hit the tax increases with inflation. For tax year 2026, for example, only income over $1.1 million is now taxed. Before the measure passed on the ballot, the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center, a left-leaning think tank, projected it could generate at least $2 billion a year. While the money is growing, the knowledge of the vitality of this source is growing even faster,” he said, noting that state lawmakers originally budgeted just $1 billion in so-called millionaires tax money, and are now planning to commit $2.7 billion next fiscal year. Andrew Farnitano, a spokesperson for Raise Up Massachusetts, the union-backed group that pushed the 2022 ballot initiative, argued the ever-increasing funding signals that “✅the ultra-rich are clearly staying in Massachusetts and paying more in taxes.” ——————————— ———— Migration Numbers: While income loss worsened, the total number of top-earning taxpayers leaving **actually fell compared to previous years. Overall Growth: Despite concerns over capital flight, the total number of millionaires and ultra-high-net-worth individuals residing in the state **has continued to grow. Why ? Because of #1 school system and healthcare This is what it buys …. •✅Free College Tuition: Surtax revenue fully funds free community college for all state residents, which triggered a 40% enrollment surge. •✅Universal Free Meals: The program guarantees free breakfast and lunch for all K-12 public school students, saving families money and combating food insecurity. •✅Expanding Childcare: Hundreds of millions of dollars fund early education subsidies, expanding childcare access for working parents. •✅Upgrading Facilities: Massive capital investments fund vocational high schools and repair aging buildings across public universities. Rebuilding Public Transportation •✅Fare-Free Transit: Funding allows multiple Regional Transit Authorities (RTAs) to completely eliminate bus fares, easing commutes for lower-income residents. •Fixing the MBTA: Over $400 million in surplus revenue targets critical safety track repairs and workforce gaps identified by fed regulators. •Fixing Local Roads: Every municipality receives additional direct funding to repair local roads and bridges based on local mileage. •✅Rural Micro-Transit: Millions are earmarked to expand "Last Mile" transport solutions for isolated or rural communities. Strengthening Healthcare via Education [ •✅Free Medical School: The state leverages education funds for a $10 million primary care pilot program at UMass Chan Medical School. It provides full-tuition scholarships for students who commit to practicing family medicine in high-need Massachusetts communities for five years. •✅Mental Health Support: Millions of dollars are directed to expanding school-based mental health professionals and counselor accessibility for children.” @davidjollyfl

This is amazing. The New York Times put together a graphic of how much time cabinet members spend kissing up to Trump in meetings. "On average, at least one of every six sentences either flattered Mr. Trump, gave him credit or criticized his political opponents." North Korea.

Watch till end ….instead of “you will pay” they will “get paid” SEN. TED CRUZ ( re slush fund meeting with Blanche) : The Republican senators were pissed. People were, the entire meeting, they were screaming at the acting Attorney General, and he was trying to lay out the legal basis. ...and there were multiple senators yelling at the [acting] Attorney General saying, "This feels like self-dealing, this feels like Trump cut a, cut a deal with himself." Trump posted this lie months ago: “THE BIDEN FBI” put 274 agents in the Jan. 6 crowd. Biden wasn’t president on Jan. 6. Trump was. Now his DOJ has a $1.7B “anti-weaponization” fund for people claiming they were unfairly targeted. Is this what the lie was for?

Yet one more reason Floridians need @davidjollyfl .. no matter your affiliation we ALL must have our constitutional rights protected “Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly says that if he’s elected in November, he would establish an Office of Civil Rights within the governor’s office. Speaking in Fort Myers recently during a gathering hosted by the Florida Democratic Hispanic Caucus, the former U.S. representative from Pinellas County reflected on the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling weakening Section 2 of the 1965 U.S. Voting Rights Act, which has permitted southern states to redraw congressional maps to eliminate Democratic districts and dilute the influence of Black voters. “I don’t think that the disparate impact of prejudicial and racist policies of the last 100 years has now expired and now we’re a moment of great equality and equity, I don’t,” he said. “I think the disparate impact is still real today.” To contend with that, he says Florida “deserves an Office of Civil Rights.” He said it would look at voting rights, access to healthcare, and ensure everyone is getting a “high quality education” as outlined in the Florida Constitution, among other aims. His comments came as the Ron DeSantis administration has applied a sledgehammer to vestiges of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in the state. Those efforts began in 2023, when the state passed legislation banning the state’s public colleges and universities from spending any money on DEI programs. That was followed last month with the governor signing legislation (SB 1134) that bans local governments from funding or promoting DEI initiatives, with local officials who are found to have violated the law subject to removal from office. It takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027. There’s also the case of Florida AG James Uthmeier, who issued an advisory legal opinion on the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday in January declaring that any state actions recognizing racial disparities are “presumptively unconstitutional” under both federal and state laws “I think David is absolutely right in creating this office, especially in a state that is actively rolling back many of those very civil rights,” said Miami Gardens Democratic state Sen. Shevrin Jones, who endorsed Jolly for governor in March. “So, yes, not only is it needed, it’s necessary.” Nearly every state in the nation manages its own state-level civil rights or human-rights commission to protect residents from discrimination in sectors such as unemployment, housing, and public accommodations. In the case of Florida, the Legislature created the Florida Commission on Human Relations in 1969 to enforce the Florida Civil Rights Act to address discrimination. “If Florida’s Commission on Human Relations is fully meeting this moment, most Floridians certainly cannot tell,” said Jones. Several other specialized civil rights offices operate within state government, with an Office of Civil Rights in the Attorney General’s office, the Department of Children’s and Families, and Department of Economic Opportunity. Jolly said Sunday that he’s ready to respond to those who “recoil” at his idea. “I will tell you this. If we don’t have any problems, then you’ve got nothing to worry about. But I think we need an Office of Civil Rights in the office of the governor to investigate where the problems are and figure out how we move ahead.” (((Mitch Perry substack- Florida Phoenix)

Gov DeSantis been clucking about “No income tax" in Florida But By shifting 80% of revenue to sales and excise taxes, FL forces its lowest earners to pay a tax rate 5x higher than the top 1%. 💰The middle class and the poor fund the state ‼️while corporations and the ultra-wealthy skate by. The money has to come from somewhere .. and you can be sure if property tax is legislated , cities , towns and ultimately constituents will bear the burden both in cost and loss of services .. …it won’t be the wealthy or corporations Florida has been business oriented. Not family oriented …
