@SloopyTexas @AracerRacer @CycleSad @Bikery1966 Just so we're clear perhaps you should learn the rules of the road in the UK. To put it simply: if you are not going over the centre line when you pass a cyclist you are passing too close!

Just so we're clear, do you deliberately ride right at the right line instead of the left half of your lane even though doing the latter would give drivers enough room to pass without having to go across the centerline into the oncoming lane in order to make a pass? If so, you're also an asshole.

The worm has turned, drivers are now being prosecuted daily for close passing cyclists, pedestrians and horses. Cameras and 3rd party reporting means we no longer have to put up with dangerous and inconsiderate driving.

Some time ago, I posited the idea that a cargo bike capable of transporting a small family would be transformative. I've found that bike. Now we need manufacturing scale to get it below £1000.

We are a deeply unserious country, led by a bunch of clowns running around like headless chickens because they are deeply afraid of losing power. Power they've squandered over 14 years. It's probably going to take the rest of the 21st century to fix things.

Trump's latest defense, which we will see at trial I'm sure, that the 34 business records were not false because they were legal payments (reimbursing his lawyer Cohen for making the $130,000 hush money payment) is BELIED by contemporaneous notations that the payments were for ongoing legal services rendered during a certain month. Oops.

@taperoo2k Yeah totally ignores that being different is always difficult especially for kids. I mean the X-men (& other mutants) actually had super powers and they were feared & persecuted Being rejected doesn't hurt less when it's because you have "superpowers"

For me the whole autism is a super power idea is toxic positivity turned up to 11. I don't consider my pattern recognition skills a super power, just part of how my brain processes information. Others can and will disagree, but that's ok.

@ROwobbles @MrsParky001 @DrFrancesRyan maybe they don't confide in you, after all you talk of claimants money being yours. I have relatives like that and certainly don't talk to them. And even if you are correct about them you assume ALL benefit claimants are the same?

The government is seeking new powers for mass surveillance of the bank accounts of millions of benefit claimants to “scan for fraud.” Congrats to every politician and pundit who peddled the scrounger myth. This is where you took us. theguardian.com/society/2024/m…

@DrFrancesRyan We should demand that the same surveillance be carried out on serving members of the government who have repeatedly shown they are not to be trusted with public money - unlike those on benefits. They assume everyone's as bent as they are!

If The Body Shop started selling Dewberry, Fuzzy Peach, Ananya and White Musk perfume oils again, then all the nostalgic women in their 40s/50s who would buy them could basically save the entire business.

@KevinBonnick @MarinaPurkiss The Tories borrowed more than Labour even before 2020. If you still believe that faded old lie that Tories manage the economy better than Labour then you haven't actually been looking at the facts. But then you don't believe it really - you just don't care.

@MarinaPurkiss Anyone can make the figures look good if you don’t care about the countries economy & just throw endless money at it! If Labour managed the finances properly, then the Tories wouldn’t have had to cut back! & really, 2020? Like nothing else could have caused that spike?

@taperoo2k Generators? I used to work for the DHS on the computer systems that ran the unemployment benefit system. We had back up generators to ensure the computers kept working if we lost mains electric. They were tested every week. Not providing back up power for these people is criminal

@taperoo2k I've not yet been officially diagnosed, but one of the first indicators for me was my sensory issues, I remember having to change seats on the bus because the person I was sat next to was wearing too much perfume/after shave

@taperoo2k Too often the amount of support a child gets is dependent on how disruptive they are rather than their actual needs. As long as the teacher can get on with the lesson they assume the kid was fine and teachers have practically no training in special needs

EHCP’s are not a golden ticket to anything. You have to fight to get one and you have to fight to get the plan implemented. Which is often a never ending battle of attrition. The Times has become a posh Tabloid Rag to an extent.
John Harris@johnharris1969

Odorous stuff from the man in the Sunday Times, dutifully pushing the EHCP = "golden ticket" line. Nice implication of underserved EHCPs (new one on me). Clue: talk to actual people & find out how many councils are actually "bending over backwards".
