MENTALLY ILL AMONG FAMILY. NORMAL AMONG STRANGERS
So a few weeks ago, I got an email from an officer from another agency about a missing woman. She suspected the missing woman was in Skid Row. For some reason, she had a psychotic break, got in her car and just drove. Her family was really concerned. I promised to look for her. I searched for days with no luck. I was about to give up, when I saw her car in a really dangerous part of my beat. Windows shattered out and stripped of a few parts; I was concerned that something bad happened. A grungy man with a graveled voice said to me “Joseph! She gone’. Just parked the mutha f*cka and kept it pushin’”
More days passed. Until last week. Some of my Skid Row peeps ran up to me on my foot beat yelling “We found her! She on San Julian!” So I walked over to the location and there she was. For this post we will call her “blondie”. She was a beautiful dark skinned sister with a blond wig. I introduced myself to her.
Me: Hey Ma’am. I’m Joseph.
Blondie: I heard you were looking for me.
Me: Well… Yeah. Your people are worried about you.
Blondie: (Chuckled) My people? My people are here. I’m okay. Tell them I’m fine. I don’t want to talk to you anymore.
Me: Ok. But what about your car? They messed it up real nice.
Blondie: It belongs to the streets and so do I.
I bowed my head in disappointment and walked away, praying for her in my heart. Something in me always wants to know when and how someone becomes so broken that they choose one of the the most dangerous places for a woman to land.
Today, I walked another foot beat. I was passing out a missing persons flier for another sista. I walked past her smiled and said “Hello again.” She didn’t speak at first. Then said “Watcha got?” I gave her the flier and asked her to look out for this missing woman. She takes the flier and I start walking away.
She called to me and said the following. “She probably doesn’t want to be found, like me.” I walked back to her and said “Why here my friend? I’m worried about you.” She looked at the flier again and said. “Because I’m tired of my family treating me I’m crazy. No one thinks I crazy here.” I looked at the surroundings and saw dozens of people who I’ve know for years ambling about who hadn’t been medicated for months. Ticking time bombs who delayed the fuse just because I was present. I looked back at her and I think I understood.
It wasn’t safe, but in her mind, she was the normal one for once.
Keep Blondie in your prayers. Hoping she opens up to me more so I can help her.

Amen! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I completely agree with the ruling!
Wouldn't you had done the same?
A 23-year-old Texas father sent his children to feed the chickens on the family ranch.
His son came running back. His sister had been grabbed and carried into a shed.
The father ran inside, pulled a 47-year-old ranch hand off his 5-year-old daughter, and beat the man with his bare hands. He called 911 immediately, asking for help, saying he did not know what to do. The man died from his injuries.
A grand jury declined to charge the father. Texas law allows deadly force during a sexual assault.
To one side, this is exactly how the law should work — a parent protecting a child in the moment. To the other, deadly private justice always carries risk, even when the moral case feels obvious.

@Mr_Husky1 When my own mother was sick and dying, my father was renewing a friendship with an old girlfriend, and speaking to me about possibly dating again. Despicable. He ended up marrying that old girlfriend…it was a disaster.
English

Reporter: “Your wife’s sick. You gonna find a girlfriend?” Jay Leno: blinks “I got one. Her name’s Mavis. We’ve been married 45 years.”
Most people saw “Jay Leno’s wife.”
Wrong.
Mavis Leno was a force. Feminist Majority Foundation. Fought for Afghan women under the Taliban when no one was watching. “So fierce they nominated her for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002,” a colleague said.
Independent. Loud. Brilliant.
1976: Meets Jay. 1980: Marries him.
He did comedy. She did justice. They did life.
Then dementia walked in.
January 2024: Doctors confirm it. Advanced. Memory, judgment, gone.
April 2024: Jay files conservatorship. Headlines scream. Home gets quiet.
Restaurants? Over.
Travel? Done.
Debates about politics? Gone.
“Dementia doesn’t steal memories,” Jay said. “It steals today.”
The cruelest part?
For 3 years, Mavis wakes up believing her mom just died.
New grief. Every morning. Fresh tears. “She wasn’t remembering,” Jay said. “She was hearing it for the first time. Every. Single. Day.”
And every morning, he sits with her. Holds her. “I’m here,” he whispers.
Next day? Repeat.
“That was the toughest,” he said. “Watching her lose her mom 1,000 times.”
His life now:
No tours. No late shows. Home by dinner. Every night.
He cooks. They watch animal shows. YouTube travel docs. “We can’t go,” he says. “But we can still see.”
Hallway walk? She needs help.
He picks her up. Sways. Slow dance.
“Jay and Mavis at the prom,” he calls it.
She laughs. Every time. “She thinks it’s funny,” he says. “So I do it. Every day.”
What’s left?
She still knows him.
Walks in the room. She smiles. “I love you.”
“I melt,” Jay says. “Every time.”
“For better or worse,” they said in 1980.
“Nobody thinks the ‘worse’ shows up,” Jay said. “It did.”
Mavis can’t march anymore. But she still growls at the news when she sees injustice. “She’s still in there,” Jay says. “The fighter.”
And he’s still here.
Not for cameras. Not for applause.
“I made a promise,” he said. “45 years ago. Still keeping it.”
“Even the worse,” Jay says, “isn’t that bad. Not with her.”
Millions do this. No interviews. No headlines.
Spouses. Kids. Siblings. Hallways turned into dance floors.
“Love isn’t a feeling,” a caregiver told me. “It’s showing up. Again. And again.”
Jay Leno made the world laugh.
Mavis made the world better.
Dementia tried to take that.
It failed.
Because she still says “I love you.”
Because he still calls it prom.
Because “I already have one. I’m married.”
That’s not a Hollywood ending.
That’s a vow.
Kept.
Every. Single. Morning.

@MayG124 @LargeFamDad More like a tube bra bodice with a large open area at the cleavage.
English

@CathySpark6512 @LargeFamDad What do you mean "boob crease?" (I take it it doesn't mean the mere shape in general)
English

I've been talking to my 15 yo son about discerning "bad fruit" in teenage girls.
So far we've talked about:
- gossiping
- foul mouth
- overly flirty
- self-centered
- bad music choices
- prideful / boasting
- immodest clothing
- posing seductively
- can't take correction
- looking down on others
- history of many boyfriends
- dissing marriage/having kids
What else are we missing?

@atensnut We have one too, with 3 babies inside. We’re in SoTex and around here, they’re swallows.

@wilsonhlthcoach I have this one, and Jesus Calling. Great starter devotions.

The eye surgery went well.
She was a bit nervous in the beginning, but she did great and can't wait for them to do her other eye.
She was ready to go within 20min after they brought her out.
Immediately upon leaving the surgery center, we left the parking lot and were waiting at a red light.
She says....
"Mom, I can read that street sign, and it's not even blurry!"
Then, as we drove through the city towards the freeway, all I could do was find signs and say....
"Can you read that one? What about that one?"
She could read them all.
By the time we got home, her vision was a little blurry, most likely due to dilation and swelling, but she can see colors now.
She said that with her other eye, everything just looks dirty, brown, and blurry.
So, an eye that just had surgery and is dilated and inflamed already has better vision than her other eye.
I can't wait until it's completely healed. She's going to see better than she ever has!
Also, I bought her and I a devotional journal. They came in the mail last night.
This is the one her PCP recommended.
She's not a religious person, but she believes in God and knows who Jesus is.
I told her she might find connection and peace in scriptures 🙏

🇩🇪🔴"I'm leaving Germany."
Famous German Youtuber "Radical Living" with 2 million followers explains why he is leaving his country.
"Once you have children, you also think about where you want to raise them, especially if you have a daughter. I don't think Germany is a good place to raise a daughter anymore because women, in general, don't feel safe walking down the street at night."
"You don't have to take it from me; there are public petitions in all major German cities. Women want vouchers for free taxi rides at night, and in Berlin, they want women-only subway wagons. The stories you hear about what women have to endure in Berlin public transport are just messed up."
"If a woman can't walk down the street at night and feel safe, you have failed as a society. It’s ridiculous that every time something happens, politicians just say we have a 'knife problem' or suggest women should dress differently."
"You can also see the decline in small things. You can't go to the supermarket anymore without feeling like we're living in a crime-polluted society."
"Even in Prenzlauer Berg, one of the best neighborhoods in Berlin, you go into a drugstore like DM and have to ask the cashier to unlock basic products like shampoo or cream because they get stolen so much. Even in a normal supermarket like Edeka, they are locking up alcohol and Red Bulls—things that cost only €1.50—with security tags. What kind of society is this becoming?"
"Radical Living" also cites Christmas markets.
"Last year, several were canceled because they couldn’t afford the 'terror defense' anymore. It costs millions of euros to put those barriers up. If Christmas markets—a place of joy that people look forward to in December—get canceled because they can't afford terror defense, many things have gone wrong in this country."
"Don't get me wrong; I don't want to blame this solely on migration. Migration isn't a bad thing per se, but there are always going to be a few people who do stupid things, and you have to filter them out. Germany is doing an extremely bad job at that."
He also notes that even people rejected for asylum are not being sent back home.
In the full 36-minute video, "Radical Living" cites the worsening economy, the high tax burden, the abuse of the welfare system, and other countries with a better quality of life as all factors in his decision to leave.
"Radical Living" has amassed millions of followers through his comedic takes, which are also popular with young people and left-wing viewers. As a result, this video, which has 1.7 million views, is sure to reach a wide audience.

Mike Pence: "I think Republicans ought to do a lot of soul-searching" before 2028
"I think Republicans face a new time of choosing — whether we're going to stay on the path of the traditional conservative principles that have always defined our party for the last half century, or whether we're going to follow the siren song of populism"
"We've always been a party committed to low taxes, including low tariffs and free trade. Now, as we witnessed, the president imposed unilateral tariffs on friend and foe alike until the Supreme Court stepped in and used the Constitution to turn him back."
"I know Donald Trump better than his most ardent defenders know him. Okay? And he is not ideological. In fact, he often bristled when I would refer to policies as conservative. He would, with a wave of a hand, say to me, 'That's just common sense.' But now, as you see the stops and starts on our support for Ukraine under this administration, nationalizing American businesses, unilateral tariffs, price controls on everything from pharmaceuticals to credit cards, all of this should should create a backdrop for a very healthy debate over whether we're going to stay moving in the direction, on these issues, that President Trump has led our party, or whether we're going to re-ground ourselves back to those timeless conservative principles, I think, that have always made not only our party successful but, more importantly, have made America strong and prosperous and free."

For the past couple years, my mom has been eating more of an animal-based diet with most of her meat being ground beef.
She used to eat a diet that was higher in carbs.
On animal-based, her total cholesterol still ranges 230-260.
But, her
- TG dropped 164 points
- LDL dropped 16 points
- HDL increased 14 points
- Total Chol dropped 36 points
My mom's PCP: "Your cholesterol is a little high. Are you still taking the statin that was prescribed by your last PCP?"
Mom: "No, I want to manage it with diet."
PCP: "But, your cholesterol is still high. We need to talk about a statin."
Mom: "But how are my ratios?"
PCP: with a surprised look on his face, smiles and says, "They're good."
I taught her about ratios.
And that was the last time her PCP mentioned statins.

@LargeFamDad @Luke_Tera There is an American pastor in Russia who refuses to hire any employee before taking an unannounced drive as a passenger in their car. He believes the condition of your car on a routine basis is a precursor to how you organize your entire life. I’ve found that to be accurate.
English

@Luke_Tera Interesting! Hadn't heard that one before. I might start with a question like "Have you been working in a garden?" though. Because if the answer is yes, then that would be a positive sign!
English

@FloatPlaneFlyer @Highway_30 I noticed that. Thank you for completing the passage.

Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
