@JaniceLukes @BichaelRender It's a 1.5 km stretch. If you don't hit the lights at Grovsenor Ave or either set of crosswalks it would take 1:48 to travel its length at 50km/h. 3:00 at 30km/h. Not 3-4 minutes. 1:12 at most.

@BichaelRender Absolutely a nominal amount of time. 3 maybe 4 minutes from River to Academy - no big deal when you are sitting in a nice warm vehicle.

During the public works meeting @JaniceLukes is asking about how much longer it will take to travel all of wellington crescent at 50 vs 30, and there are varying replies, I would encourage you to make the trip yourself and time it. As your average speed is usually not the limit.

My column today. Reports of the death of Osborne Village have been greatly exaggerated. Its unprecedented growth is an opportunity to restore Osborne to a neighbourhood main street from its current position as a commuter thoroughfare. winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2…

If the first thing you say about trans people is about bathrooms or sports & not about how to make the world safer for these beautiful children of God, you need real help.

Imagine visiting any vibrant city and still believing that ample parking is what makes downtown storefront business successful. Winnipeg would be the Paris of North America if that was true. We can afford to lose 150 of 38,726 public parking stalls to make cyclists safe @jbrowaty

CBC investigates Winnipeg spending $3/4 billion to expand one road. Findings: Crippling cost. Won’t reduce traffic congestion. Conclusion: Do it because congestion is bad. (Didn’t you just say it won’t fix congestion?) Also: Charts with no numbers! cbc.ca/player/play/vi…

Spectacular turn out earlier this evening! Look at how beautiful this is, holding space and hope for better cycling infrastructure. Drone shot from a friend in the Winnipeg cycling Discord.

Help us transform Graham Avenue into a signature street in our Downtown - a place to meet-up on a patio, attend a market, gather for events, read a book in the shade, or walk your dog. Take the survey or join us the open house on May 15. winnipeg.ca/centreplan2050 #wpgengage

A report to city council advises no more right turns from eastbound Assiniboine onto southbound Main St. The other would see left turns from northbound Main onto westbound Assiniboine controlled by a new traffic signal, but prohibited during the afternoon rush hour.

Wow. The entire Letters to the Editor section responding to my column. Including one from a City Councillor who dislikes scramble crossings and hates slip lanes. I think most pedestrians would be satisfied if we started by removing slip lanes.

My column today Slip lanes are dangerous for all road users and have no place on neighbourhood streets. Drivers approach searching for openings in traffic to accelerate into instead of looking towards pedestrians crossing the intersection in front of them. winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/2024/0…
