4 successful Cryo runs and 4 successful exfils today and ... I'll talk about this more on the pod this week, but I think I genuinely hate Cryo. Marathon clears GOTY no problem for me, but I think this map is like everything wrong with the game rolled up into a single experience

Looking for some additional context on IB Feedback Re: Crimil's Dagger vs Steady Hand Talk to me, which one do you prefer? Any specific reasons why? Look, feel, sound? Both are kinetic 120, so if you don't particularly lean one way or the other no worries. Alt note: Saw some chatter of "literally no one is asking about finite impactor, why was this in the TWID?" Tuesday we saw quite a few questions across our accounts, I also had some folks in my replies poking at it. As it was the last IB loot addition and was available for a fairly limited time, wanted to hit it quick to say it'll be coming back. Hear you on the desire to hear more about alt topics. Sigh. I decided to post a Genshin impact video for the first time in like 2 years. And not only was it 1/10 best performing, the amount of comments saying it was the first video recommended to them in years from me hurts. Actually might need to make a new channel.

It makes sense. I got like 600k subs in two months when Genshin launched. It is the mass majority of subscribers on my channel. I then lost subs from older games, and continued to replace them with Gacha fans. I genuinely think the channel is trapped forever.

Marathon is stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's an incredibly good game, but the more casual audience seems to be avoiding it. But if they dumb the game down, it will be considerably worse and I'll likely stop playing it. It's basically a phenomenal game that doesn't appeal, I guess, to a wider audience. I'm not sure what exactly the solution is, maybe it's better strategic marketing and creative efforts to onboard new players. I'm not sure. But dumbing the game down would likely fix nothing. You might get new players to temporarily try it, but then they're playing a considerably less inspired game and will bounce off it. I also think the truly bizarre pre-launch hate campaign was SUPER weird. Like, gamers can be such strange people and I say that with peace and love. But I'm not sure I've ever seen a global predisposition to hate a game the way I saw it with Marathon. People were literally parroting the exact same sentences for months, almost like they had talking points and were collectively regurgitating them. Like the places where gamers hang out (YT, Reddit, Twitch, X, etc) had posts or something hating the game that circulated so much that people just latched onto them. I dunno. Either way, it didn't do the game any favors. I'm not sure what the best path forward is but good marketing and a positive outward image might help. And the vault wipes are definitely a good thing, that's totally necessary. But I think diluting the game to make it more palatable is the wrong play personally. Short term gain maybe, but over time will actually hurt retention I think.

I believe that if marathon didnt deal with the publicity of a poor first alpha and the antreal situation it would be FAR more popular than it is now. Dont listen to the idiots mindlessly hating on the game, its truly a game that feels both satisfying and rewarding to play 🤝

dude i fucking wish marathon wasnt shrouded in controvercy before release. Universally all ACTUAL critics (not just the people who suck at fps games) have given the game an incredibly high review score and have said it scratches an itch many games dont.
