@corn_porkNbeans @schuelkecorn We will no-till some in if conditions are right, but we are not no-tillers. Going more corn on corn so that will be less and less. Also like the fertilizer in the ground vs laying on top so that hinders most no-till for me

Why is conservation adoption is so slow in agriculture? It’s not ignorance. It’s economics…& time. A lot of farmers aren’t just farming anymore; they’re working off-farm, running side hustles, doing whatever it takes to stay afloat. Conservation takes management. It takes attention. It takes time most don’t have. And then there’s cost. Strip-till. Cover crops. Precision nutrients. None of it is free to try, and none of it is simple to manage. So what happens? Guys go back to what works: One pass. One plan. Fewer variables. Not because they don’t care… but because they assume they can’t afford not to. Every farmer wants to leave the land better. But first, they have to not just survive, they have to thrive.

@corn_porkNbeans I was in the nation's first CSP 20 years ago. Being paid for things we already practiced. (no-till, VR fert, sprayer shut off, IPM, etc) I chisel plowed all my bean stubble last year. Do what you need to do when you need to do it. Putting a label on something is silly.

Spread manure on this field last fall. 84 degrees out. Figured leveling off the clods was a good excuse to sit in the air conditioner.

@wapp56 @FixnandFarming We run e-20 in everything, lawnmowers, weed eaters, whatever. No issues.

@FixnandFarming Regular is better fuel…Better fuel mileage, doesn’t gum up as bad if it sits in a small engine, don’t have to worry about what vehicle it’s going in if it’s flex or not. That’s why… as most of my corn goes to an ethanol plant….

Had a conversation with my fuel supplier today about e85 to the farm. No previous questions on e85 from anyone else. He said frankly, I sell a lot more regular unleaded to the farm than e10. How can you as a corn producer not support what you grow and deliver to an ethanol plant?

If I’m switching acres from corn to beans bc of inputs/margin potential, I’d assume others are doing the same and manage price accordingly.

@mattygilbert They draw from such a big area that it's hard to outguess the line there. It sure shows how valuable 35-40 cents extra means to everyone right now.

7 1/2 hour round to deliver 1 load of beans. Blech. Feel sorry for the dudes showing up at 4:30 though. Hope they packed something good for supper.
