An incredible 52-year journey comes to an end. Following extensive consideration, BBC Sport has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Football Focus at the end of this season. First broadcast in 1974, Football Focus is a testament to the brilliant team who have worked on it over the years and, of course, the audience. The programme has been a staple of the BBC’s football coverage for decades, providing fans with interviews, analysis and stories from across the game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. But changing audience behaviours mean fans are now increasingly consuming football content in different ways and we need to respond appropriately as we face difficult decisions around how the licence fee is spent. Fans are accessing discussion, highlights, analysis and news through digital platforms and on-demand viewing and as viewing habits continue to evolve, it is right that BBC Sport adapts how it brings football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and to its extensive social platforms. BBC Sport boasts a strong football rights portfolio and is set to significantly expand its digital output this year growing content across BBC platforms, as well as a bold new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube. Featuring fresh formats, big personalities and more frequent, always-on content tailored for digital audiences, the expansion will bring fans closer to the game than ever before delivering more high-quality, accessible and engaging football coverage at scale. We will release further details on these plans in the coming months.

Neville Addresses Being Called A “W*nker” In Public: “I Thought He Was Gonna Set The Dog On Me!” 😬 Gary Neville has addressed the moment a man approached him and his wife on their way to watch James at a concert, calling him a “w*nker” and a “f*cking pr*ck”. He said the part that really bothered him was the fact his wife was with him, but he soon forgot about it and enjoyed the concert. Gary admitted his mistake was not filming the man himself, because now no one can see who he is, and if he had filmed it, the guy may not have posted the video. He also revealed the man had a really aggressive dog with him, and at one point Gary thought he was going to let it off the lead to savage him! Roy Keane, never missing, chimed in at the end: “Let him go back to his slip and have a good night’s sleep.” 😂

@carlbucksey @BBCMOTD The “large audiences” those knobheads attract is because they say stupid, ridiculous and uneducated shit that football fans feel the need to engage with and respond to in order to challenge their lack of understanding. Not because anybody besides a few 13 year olds likes them.

@scsomewhere999 @darrengrimes So basically as Darren said.. the Labour government overturned a local council decision. And no, solar panels do not increase energy security. for every solar panel you rely on, you need backup power for when the sun isn’t shining (and that’s gas).

@Cclarke93 @liamtuffs1 You can’t say what he said about middle aged white men and not deserve to be abused for it. I have very little empathy in this case because I’m a middle aged white man and when you slag off people that have helped to make you rich then you deserve a bit back.

@RyanBlairz1 @Richard89022768 @Frankel001 @DeborahMeaden My understanding the biggest issue with wind is 2 fold. When theres no wind no energy. When there is too much wind, producers are paid to turn it off then paid compensation for this. We then also buy gas to fill the gaps essentially paying twice. Tech is good, system is fucked.

@afneil Starmer genuinely impresses me. After 14 years of at best mediocre, at times utter incompetence. I honestly thought the tories would always carry the title:Worst Government Ever Yet I didn't count on Starmer I don't think there is another politician who could have done so badly

BREAKING NEWS (with the potential to be massive): The Guardian reveals Peter Mandelson failed advanced security vetting before becoming US ambassador. He was initially denied developed vetting clearance in January 2025 - weeks after Keir Starmer had officially announced his appointment. Foreign Office was ‘encouraged’ to deploy a rarely-used power to override the recommendation from security officials. The Government promised total transparency on the Mandelson affair after MPs forced it to release of a batch of documents about the process. But nothing it has released reveals this startling fact. Indeed, Starmer has always insisted Mandelson was subject to 'security vetting, carried out independently by the security services, which is an intensive exercise that gave him clearance for the role'. Developing …

@JasonUnsworth00 @theboyclive @Keir_Starmer It's not good work it's an authoritarian overstep. Parents should use the tools on the device and their own will to limit children. Not have it baked into law that the nanny state does it instead. That's removes choice which isn't good.

I know parents are worried about social media and its impact on their children’s safety. They rightly expect fast action. Today, I’m calling on senior leaders from X, Meta, Snap, YouTube and TikTok to step up. I will do whatever it takes to keep children safe online.

@stefanjacobs @MikeMongie @elonmusk Is it possible that some discrimination can be fair in order to promote equality and lift up those who were disadvantaged. Let's say you have two children and one is mentally or physically challenged. Wouldn't it be fair to "discriminate" in favour of the child who's challenged

The South African laws are literally super racist, plain and simple. It’s not complicated: imagine if the law was called “White Empowerment”, instead of “Black Empowerment”! People would have a seizure 😂 South Africa now has more anti-White laws than Apartheid had anti-Black laws. Think about that for a second … The current South African government has objectively implemented Apartheid 2.0. Shame on them.
