also some nice shoutouts in this reading list to folks like @avicgoldfarb, @klakhani and @ce_tucker! so, can chatgpt put together my syllabus for me? no. but it provided a good starting point, and also maybe suggested some good research ideas and potential sets of collaborators!

This🧵is about a tricky problem in education The problem: despite growing global wealth and technological progress, there are extremely poor parts of the world where most children grow up illiterate and innumerate We have two new papers showing that this can be changed 1/n

I got an interesting question today: Say before each A/B test you run, you ask your team to estimate the outcome. You collect a year's worth of data and find a handful of people are very good at forecasting which tests will perform well. What do you do with this information?

@thefirstred @EricTopol @nature Counterfactual is important. E.g. some schools don't do online instructions, because they worry about educational inequality. So (mostly rich and educated) parents do their own teaching or sign up for courses offered by private schools. Result will be even more inequality.

A spot on @nature editorial today on smartphone contact tracing nature.com/articles/d4158… These apps have not been validated, carry risks, and cannot be considered as a substitute for the laborious tracing by people, unless or until such time they have proven value.

New piece with Catherine Tucker @ce_tucker Social distancing has led to school closures. Some schools are switching to remote instruction. We document how the digital divide might exacerbate existing educational inequalities. Please take a look! papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…
