If you don't impeach and remove a President for staging a coup, what's the point of impeachment.

She had a brief battle with osteosarcoma before telling us it was time. Had a very purposeful last walk. She left us peacefully, on a soft bed out on our deck. She has been a big part of my mental health maintenance for the last 8 yrs. I can't understate how much I will miss her

I know most (all?) of the people who follow me could use some alcohol during this mess. Why not drink something *really good*? And help a small business in the process? And have it delivered to your door! Mention me in order notes to make my parents proud of me!

@tage_rai @sciencemagazine Tage: Congrats on the new role at Science! Dean Eckles just informed me of this news. So cool!Dean was here at UNC sharing his research on seeding social networks. Recall you, Dean and I went out to dinner after my seminar at MIT Sloan last year. Hope to see you soon.

Python (and Python-curious) econometrics folks: My package `econtools` is now a lot more user friendly, with full documentation: Check it out here: danielmsullivan.com/econtools/ It's still a work in progress, but it fills a large gap in the Python/stats ecosystem.

@Prof_Yildirim Totally agree. I have had similar struggles. Ultimately we need to write the paper we can proudly have our names on rather than what the reviewers want us to write just because they can make the ask.

(2) Those who think a paper is worthy of publication only if X’s impact on Y is unreasonably large. Small % changes can make a huge difference. When I see these super high numbers (30%?!) I am always (initially) suspicious that someone messed up the analysis.

@btshapir I agree with every bit. My other frustrations: (1) those who mindlessly put “interesting” results before a clean measurement. I do not care how interesting the claims of the authors are if the findings are not backed up with clean estimation/math. twitter.com/btshapir/statu…
Brad Shapiro@btshapir

I have refereed a lot of papers recently. A lot. When reading the other referee reports, I often see: (1) Reviewers suggest a result is "obvious" (2) Reviewers suggest a result is "not surprising." They are equally annoying to me but not the same thing.
