had an argument with a lighter chad day before yesterday and it made me realize something. nobody remembers the runner-up. @SageWhale made a post about hyperliquid and I replied with the usual HL saying: 'there's no second best.' then he pushed back and said there is a second best. and honestly… maybe he's right. the problem is nobody cares enough to remember them(the runner up) people remember the category leader. the name that became synonymous with the category itself. look around: +> perp DEXs +> prediction markets +> NFT marketplaces on ethereum your mind quickly remembered the category leaders right? most people outside crypto don't even realize lolymarket is just one prediction market platform, to them, it is prediction markets.(whatever that means) same way people say 'google it' instead of 'search for it.' that's what happens when you dominate a category hard enough — your brand becomes the default mental reference. and that's the scary part about markets: being 'good' is rarely enough. being second is rarely enough. because attention compounds around the winner. so whatever you're building in this space, don’t aim to participate, try as much as you can to dominate. aim to become the name people use when they describe the entire category. cuz the truth is in web3 as well as any other industry, the winner takes it all thanks for your attention to this matter.
