After getting the seasonal flu that was going around, it took til this week to get to 100%. Feels good to workout again! Spent quality time digging into goals with @melrobbins Best Year Workbook + @AliAbdaal Annual Planning workshop. Love their feel good clarifying techniques!

It's been a really hectic week. At times I really wanted to sit in front of the TV and binge some random TV show. But I didn't.
Instead, I joined @AliAbdaal and his Feel-Good Productivity Annual Planning Workshop today.
I've been struggling to pin down my 2024 goals this year. They felt empty.
But Ali's approach and vibe made it all so fun and doable - now I'm buzzing!
Here's how we did it:
1. Reflect on Your 2023:
- what was good
- what were the challenges
- what you learnt
- what did you miss
- what you'd do differently
- who did you connect with
2. Find your North Star
- what's your ideal Tuesday in 5 years
- what's your fearless dream
- what's your fail-proof dream
- what would your obituary say
3. 2024 Annual Goal Setting
- what dreams without limits do you have for health/relationships/work to learn, have, be, try, see, do, go, create and contribute to
- number your dreams across 1, 3 , 5 and 10 years
- pick your top 3-5 goals for 1, 3, 5 and 10 years
- define your 1-year goals and discover why, how and when to achieve
From this you build your plan for 2024. This is your voyage towards your North star.
But to execute, you need your system. This is what you'll do during your voyage to stay on track.
This is where goal achievement often falls down.
Maybe you:
- aren't consistent enough
- get distracted
- get disheartened
- get impatient
- get overwhelmed
- feel fearful
- don't review what works
- don't tweak what doesn't work
- don't look after yourself
- don't believe you can do it
- lose hope
- become cynical
- get worn out
- change your goals but not your plan
The lesson here is that values-based goals are a great way to get motivated and stay focused to build the business and life you want.
But the real change happens in the day to day - your system.
Getting over the challenges and wobbles along the way.
Being brave enough to admit when it's not working and trying a new way.
Most importantly - not blaming yourself, but blaming your system.
Don't personalise if things go wrong or don't work out the way you planned.
Be a curious scientist and test a new plan to achieve your goals.
