$APE coin tax implications from a VA CPA: In my opinion- just being eligible to claim $APE doesn’t create a taxable event. Actually claiming it does. (yes, yes I am aware of D&C and this is just my professional opinion) Ordinary income at claim & capital gain or loss at sale
