The Indian Army plans to place order for the 800 km+ strike-range variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. The Indian force currently operates the 450 km+ range version of the India-Russia joint-venture system, which is used in land-attack, anti-ship and air-launched roles across the Army, Navy and Air Force.
India's Defence Ministry approval for the acquisition is expected at a high-level meeting in the coming days. The move reflects the Indian Army’s push to enhance long-range precision strike capabilities amid evolving warfare requirements, including the large-scale induction of missiles and drones.

@michaeldweiss @NicoleGrajewski Patrushev is not secretary of Security Council.
He was replaced by Shoigu two years ago.

Nikolai Patrushev, former FSB director and now secretary of Russia's Security Council, has an interesting interview with Kommersant. He denounces the Iran war as a "tragedy" and also says Russia's economic benefits will be short-lived. kommersant.ru/doc/8514927?na…

Yuri Lyamin quoted in the Financial Times:
“Iran’s initial strikes seemed aimed primarily at blinding US forces and their allies in the region by destroying various radars”

No single Southeast Asian state possesses the full range of assets, doctrine and posture required to fully execute an anti-access/area-denial (A2/AD) strategy on its own.
Following on from its recent acquisition of BrahMos missiles from India, the Philippines has increased its experience with and exposure to additional long-range strike systems through its exercises with the US.
Read Dr Evan A. Laksmana's full research report assessing how maritime Southeast Asian states are developing A2/AD strategies and capabilities.

In the 1940s, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar was committed to his teaching role at the University of Chicago, despite being based at the Yerkes Observatory. Each week, he traveled 80 miles to teach a special course attended by only two students. The students were Tsung-Dao Lee and Chen-Ning Yang. They proved their mentor's faith was well-placed when they both won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957, years before Chandrasekhar received the same honor in 1983. Remarkably, this course went down in history as the only one where every attendee received a Nobel Prize, underscoring the extraordinary impact of Chandrasekhar's dedication and teaching.

The 🇺🇦ambassador to Oman, Olha Selykh, showed up to an official reception wearing tight white leggings.
It’s still unclear whether it was meant to be a feminist manifesto (which would be surprising, since no one had previously suspected Ms. Selykh of militant feminism) or just a spectacular lapse in judgment.
Either way, it worked — the outfit achieved the one thing diplomacy often struggles with: it gave everyone something to talk about.
In international relations terms, you could say the situation escalated quickly… and the dress code suffered its first visible casualty. 🥀

Russia is not the loser from the U.S. attack on Iran. 3 ways Russia gains:
1. Weapons deliveries to Ukraine will now slow or stop as munitions are diverted to ME.
2. Russia will benefit if oil & gas prices rise
3. U.S. distraction reduces bandwidth for pressing on diplomacy.

28 Feb 25: Trump berates Zelensky at White House. A few days later, US pauses intel sharing with Ukraine. 28 Feb 26: US attacks Russia’s partner Iran, kills leader, calls for regime change. A few days before, cut off Russian access to Starlink. What a difference a year makes.

In my view, the West has underestimated the Shahed threat for a number of reasons:
- Overgeneralizing from the 12-Day War, fought under favorable conditions and with uninspired Iranian tactics.
- Extrapolating from Ukraine without properly factoring in Ukraine's massive defensive effort and rapid adaptation.
- Selective perception of Shahed atracks in Ukraine. High-rise impacts go viral, succesful attacks against military and industrial targets often remain invisible.

Israeli aircraft now operating in Iranian airspace. US deployed B-2s to strike underground ballistic missile sites. Hearing from US sources Shaheds are so far the most dangerous threat. They’re getting through AD.
