@MickMyers72 @Joanna__Hardy @yuanyi_z I ordered mine y/day and had email from DPD today to say they’re expecting it so I’m anticipating delivery maybe wed ? I’ll be so disappointed if I have to wait 2 weeks+ - there wasn’t any indication of a delay when I placed my order. The heatwave will have ended by then too 😟

You have to admire the dexterity with which Mr Zahawi has picked up the vocabulary of the New Right. He of course was only 11 when he arrived as a refugee, but presumably had he been five years older, he too would've been of 'fighting age'.
Nadhim Zahawi@nadhimzahawi

8,500 illegal crossings since January, mostly young men of fighting age. That’s 8,500 homes or hotel rooms, and a growing national security risk. If this isn’t a national emergency, what is? Where is the urgency from the PM, Home Secretary and Parliament? Britain cannot keep sleepwalking into decline. Only @reformparty_uk is willing to confront this self-harm. 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽💔

@Joanna__Hardy Oof, that’s another £180 gone from my bank to Shark after seeing your tweet 😄 I love Shark products and hadn’t seen this one but I love that the blades can be twisted to send air in different directions so no longer one of us hogging the cooler air

Was this intentional from @TheTimes? Either way - it has seriously tickled me this morning - the idea of John Healey in his finest red suit atop this plane. 🤣🤣🤣 @JohnHealey_MP @DefenceHQ

If you don’t listen to anything else today, listen to Alan Johnson on @bbc BH 09:10 this morning. He makes a very compelling case to keep Starmer on as PM, flaws & all, bc of what’s now being delivered.

People heaping a lot of praise on this piece. And it has some excellent insights. But at its heart is one gaping flaw. It reads as if Andy Burnham's journey began in Manchester. And completely ignores the fact he served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Culture Secretary and Health Secretary. This idea he is some political neophyte, unused to the cold, harsh realities of Westminster is silly.
Joshi Herrmann@joshi

I’ve been writing about Andy Burnham in Manchester for a while. We’ve had a few run-ins but I think he has qualities that many people don’t appreciate and weaknesses that spell trouble. I wrote this for @ManchesterMill - I hope it’s insightful and fair. manchestermill.co.uk/stop-looking-f…

One cannot help but observe that in much of Andy Burnham’s election material, the word “Labour” is conspicuous by its absence. That, in itself, is telling. Here is a figure who, it is suggested, harbours ambitions to lead the Labour Party, yet appears reluctant to place its name prominently upon his own campaign literature. If one seeks to lead a political party, there ought to be no hesitation in standing beneath its banner. Every leaflet, every statement, every piece of campaign material should reflect that allegiance clearly and without ambiguity. To do otherwise invites the impression that the association is one of convenience rather than conviction. A candidate standing for Labour does so not as an individual detached from the party, but as its representative. The purpose is not merely personal advancement, but to advance the cause of the party as a whole, and ultimately to present a credible alternative to the sitting Prime Minister. That demands a degree of loyalty and clarity that should be visible to all. When that clarity is absent, it inevitably raises questions. It suggests a desire to appeal to all sides, perhaps even to avoid offending those who might not naturally align with Labour, including voters who have recently supported alternatives. Yet in attempting to be all things to all people, one risks appearing to stand for very little at all. In the end, political leadership requires more than positioning. It requires conviction, and the confidence to state plainly where one stands.

🚨Further good news after Michael Carrick’s extension yesterday, all current first-team coaches have now also signed two-year contracts at Manchester United. This includes Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Travis Binnion and Craig Mawson. As reported yesterday, #mufc’s hierarchy have been impressed by not just the results achieved in the last five months or so but also the positive change in culture at Carrington - led by Carrick as well as his staff too.

Exclusive: A suspended Labour MP is preparing to sue the party for discrimination, claiming he was the victim of a coordinated smear campaign that targeted his mental health. Karl Turner, who rebelled against Keir Starmer’s government in a row over jury trials, alleges that senior party figures weaponised his history of mental health struggles to undermine his political standing. On Wednesday, Turner, who was suspended at the end of March over his opposition to plans to curb jury trials, publicly challenged Starmer over “hostile briefings and smears”. In an interview with The i Paper, Turner tells the full story behind this extraordinary exchange with the Prime Minister, including how he spent nine days in a mental health hospital in 2016 after his nephew Matty, a junior barrister, took his own life, and how other members of the Cabinet have been dragged into the row. inews.co.uk/news/politics/…
