@wpetty19 @bonhoefferchild Sorry for your loss of Casinos! I’m guessing ‘sovereign’ goes when the white man says it does I don’t think they had much of a choice where they were reserved by people they never invited to live on their land v much like the South Natives who didn’t invite the Spanish
English

@Cephas535 @bonhoefferchild Reservations are sovereign. They are designed so the native Americans live under their own government. That is why reservations can build casinos in areas no one else can.
English

@wpetty19 @bonhoefferchild Am not sure being forced Transported to designated areas and then living under white rule constitutes living in peace!!
English

@Cephas535 @bonhoefferchild When was the last time an American Indian tribe went to war with another tribe? They now have peace after millennia of war.
There lands were invaded and they lost.
English

@maxrushden @jonawils How long will it be before there is a headline pun on Amorim? I’m thinking “Amorim gives ‘team…? an Amorim”
English

Tomorrow's Guardian Football Weekly. Premier League preview, Pep, Amorim...
A fully FSA Nominated panel...Baz, Jonny Liew, @jonawils
Any Questions?
English

@SheilaBurgoyne1 @Bbmorg The liberal folks I know are all pro Palestinian!!
English

@Bbmorg As much of a mystery as why so many "liberal" folks are so positively enthusiastic about the murderous dictator Netanyahu. Stupid clearly
English

@chuckdegroat Absolutely! What if we are defined as beloved children as opposed to sinners That ‘gospel’ has ruined a lot of lives & churches We are defined by who we are NOT what we do! It’s a revelation I have been discovering over the last 10 yrs or so
English

@wpetty19 @bonhoefferchild Nope Europe is not known for its peace! I’m thinking Greece is the oldest democracy but ( check notes) it’s not! It is the US - sorry I still think that ppl who are native to the land r entitled to feel invaded by non native ppl which is American history
English

@Cephas535 @bonhoefferchild What are you talking about? People from all over Europe were settling the Americas. Not just the UK. No the UK was a monarchy during this period.
Why is it ok for native Americans to go to war with each other but it is bad when Europeans do it? Because Europeans brought peace?
English

@jovial_cynic Love that. It’s like we’re asking the wrong question which I think we frequently do when talking to God
English

@maxrushden No I definitely can’t see this post asking if I can see this post ! Lol What are u like Max
English

@wpetty19 @bonhoefferchild lol you’ve changed from democracy to republic!! So the UK - where u all came from b4 you invaded the Northern native Indians and the southern native Indian-calls itself a Democracy! I’m wondering if the Army u ref to was British?
English

@Cephas535 @bonhoefferchild What native Americans? The ones the American troops defeated or the native Americans that were conquered by other native Americans going back centuries.
What other republic is older than America?
English

@DPCassidyTKC Totally agree but not all people call them ….The Great In parts of central Asia Alexander is known as the Devil obviously because he killed a lot of people and destroyed cultures It’s only the Western historians that name him great
English

@wpetty19 @bonhoefferchild Has it lasted longer than any other democracy ? What’s the facts? and what have the native Indian to say about the nation founded on a creed?
English

@bonhoefferchild You are wrong.
America was founded on a creed. It has lasted longer than any other democracy.
The government was designed for a Christian people. The government is supposed to serve man while man serves God.
English

@jncatron @AlistairMay @LauraRbnsn But you’re still asking children/yp’s to read the elite Cx text in a language which no one uses today What is it about the AV that makes it so special I do think some Cx panic about letting go of the AV it’s actually been my experience I live in N Ireland!!
English

No one is scared, friend. Calm down.
The discussion here, as I would frame it, is between teaching an epochal work of literature - which I think is the correct way to approach it in a secular, secondary context - and a comparatively irrelevant modernization.
If we were instead discussing theological education in seminaries, my preference would be completely different.
English

@LauraRbnsn He’s asking them to read Shakespeare- it’s ridiculous It also offends me because it implies that Christianity is stuck in the 1600’s - which in some churches might be the case- but to also have a political/ nationalist- document attached- is using Gods word for political ends!!!
English

@EMubuntu @MattSmethurst So so sad (oops that’s a feeling) He doesn’t want to worship God he wants to think about Him like he is a piece of rock I wonder what his kids think? I wonder what Hymns he sings with no feelings whatsoever Can he sing Amazing Grace that taught me heart to think or consider!!!!!!
English

@MattSmethurst A brilliant case made here by Alistair of knowing that transforms vs feeling that paralyses.
English

@DavidMurphy That’s so good David and good of you to acknowledge the support too

As it's #WorldDiabetesDay2024, I'm goo to give my annual update.
Since last World Diabetes Day, I have done a DAFNE course and, honestly, it has fundamentally changed my life (although I have outsourced most of the thinking to an app) 1/n
English

@jovial_cynic Some people pay a lot of money for that teaching!!! Thanks Josh!
