In 2019, 29-year-old Rutledge Deas IV from New Orleans was arrested for faking a disability and hiring caretakers to change his soiled diapers. Louisiana State Police arrested Rutledge Deas IV after discovering he had posed on babysitting apps pretending to be a relative of a disabled man named "Cory" who had mental and physical disabilities. He hired women, including a 20-year-old college student, to care for "Cory," who was actually him, with the online post instructing caretakers to treat the man as if he were a child, including changing his diapers. At least four female caretakers came forward saying he posed as a disabled person and had hired them to change his diapers. The victims, hired from an online app, reported that he would become visibly aroused during the changes and reported it to authorities after realising the scam. He was sentenced to five years of probation and 400 hours of community service, and was required to attend addiction counselling and refrain from using social media. He was later arrested again in December 2021 after investigators discovered he had sent text messages attempting to recruit new caretakers.
