Chelsea supporters are now also being subjected to spot checks, although at least they’re being given advance warning (see screenshot). That said, this practice is quickly becoming the norm, despite there being no clear regulation governing it. I wouldn’t be surprised if clubs are already discussing which approaches suit them best, including how these checks could be used to generate additional revenue. What concerns me is the apparent alignment between clubs, with decisions potentially being agreed upon before they even reach individual club Fan Advisory Boards. The #PremierLeague will undoubtedly be involved, particularly given its requirement that clubs must know who is inside the stadium. This is something worth keeping an eye on. I’d be interested to hear what other clubs are doing regarding checks for their travelling supporters. It also raises an obvious question: why is there so much focus on away fans, while far less scrutiny is applied to home supporters? @WeAreTheFSA
