@Wade87847973 @jmousis You could plainly see that it took a lot out of him, plus Olympics, he needs a break to regroup. Get rid of a Defenseman, add a Goalie and with some rest this team should be fun to watch next year.

@jmousis 97 carried this team into the playoffs. The amount of heavy lifting he did with this team…very underrated….

I honestly don’t know what version of the Oilers people watched this year to think this is a crazy result. There were almost zero similarities with the last two years except that the goaltending stunk. Mix in injuries to top players and here we are. They need a long off-season.

@Wade87847973 No the D are just not good enough defensively and the other issue here is McDavid is absolutely drained.. I don't care who you are, if you've played as much as he has the past 3 years its going to catch up to you.. he looks like a skeleton.

Obviously lots of key injuries among the Oiler fwd group. Unfortunately, the D core is fully healthy but as a group…they’re just not good enough to keep games low scoring.

They did not get out of the first period. Nurse is just standing around on another Ducks goal. Anaheim is dominating the Oil. McDavid is obviously playing injured. This all feels bad right now.

Looks like that one hits Nurse and goes in past a helpless Ingram. If so, that's two in two games like for Nurse, who's battling in front. Rough luck.

That's four straight now, as Gridin blows on past Jarry. It's an excellent shot from a player who is in all alone. You can ask your goalie for that save. He's only making it 50% of the time. Defend better.

I agree with Captain Jack's take here (and also what @bcurlock said yesterday). I think he's under tremendous push-pull to tow the line for the NHLPA, but also wants to win and he cares less about the money for that purpose. I don't envy the scenario, and I think he's shown us 10 years of loyalty, I think we owe some belief and that same loyalty back to him. Have faith, I think this works out in both the short and long term.
