@BensHoops Happy to hear that you’re doing better and that you’re able to be back on the air. Hopefully all will continue to go well for you.

@ScottyGZone That song always reminds me of the scene from Forest Gump where everyone is doing drugs.

@kirbyhocutt You have an amazing opportunity right in front of you. If you are proactive with the situation you’re in by making the decision now to not allow Sorsby to play, you can be on the right side of history. You will be the good guys.

I reenacted this so many times growing up. #goodtimes

Why did Tolkien call death a gift?
In The Silmarillion, he writes death is an exclusive gift given to mankind by God. All other creatures envy this gift, including the immortal elves:
Mankind alone, through death, is granted union with the divine.
Tolkien's point is that immortality in a fallen world is not a blessing, nor man's actual purpose. To live forever in a world marred by corruption, vice, and decay is to be trapped with no escape.
Death, then, is not a tragic ending, but a release — a return of creation to its creator. The humility of mortal man leads to a glory far greater than immortality.
In other words, man was made for something greater than earthly pleasure. Death is the preparation for eternity.
Today we tend to see this backwards. We treat death as the ultimate evil, and endless life as the ultimate good, no matter the cost. We try to preserve life indefinitely, and in doing so, lose sight of what life is actually for.
Tolkien's final insight is simple:
A man who refuses to die for anything will one day find he has nothing worth living for.
A world that fears death above all else will never reach the highest good, for life truly begins when you discover a love greater than life itself.

@BarackObama Did you know if you look up “misnomer” in the dictionary, you find the Affordable Care Act?
English

The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time.
The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more.
But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.

@TerribleMaps Rather than trucks, we could try training pigeons to carry the oil to the next ship. It’s obviously a lot oil, so strap a mini fanny pack to them and they can fly it over a cup at a time. No one would suspect a thing.

@BrownieCFB The week before conference games start, these two conferences should do this.
English

@GavinNewsom Ummm… If you have a problem with this, you’re going to want to do some self-evaluation.

Silver admits there's been tanking for decades, did nothing about it while teams like the Spurs and Thunder thrived because of it but now decides to take it out on two other small-market teams (Jazz and Pacers) who haven't benefited from tanking or the lottery. The NBA needs a new boss. He's not it.
English

@ESPNNBA @KendrickPerkins @KendrickPerkins If you want to talk about disrespecting the game, that’s fine, but if that’s what you really care about, you better talk about ALL the other teams doing the same thing. If you only call out the Jazz, then your commentary is shallow and void of credibility.
English

"I wish Adam Silver would've fined them $5M for disrespecting the game of basketball. Let's stop being nice about it and throwing out the word 'tanking.' No, it's actually throwing games."
