As a grown man who couldn’t keep it together when opening my first box of books… I get it. Moving on. Just finished your book, devoured it in a few sittings. Thoughts: I’ve never read anything quite like Thinking Sideways. As an amateur chess enthusiast, I loved the accessible strategy insights and historical interludes. As a longtime poker pro, I appreciated the many unique ways Jen draws connections between high-level chess and cards. As a personal development junkie, I was impressed by her ability to illuminate life lessons through the lens of chess. And as a father, the touching passages about her son had my eyes watering more than once. (Man, I’m soft.) I’m sure Jen could write a superb narrative about chess stories, a personal growth book, or a memoir. Instead, she’s crafted all 3—and so much more. I adored Thinking Sideways and learned a ton along the way.
