Two F-16 crashes in Turkey & South Korea in the last 24 hours. The former was fatal as the pilot couldn’t eject. Not one American , Turkish or Korean account asking Lockheed Martin to shutdown. Two TEJAS crashes in the last two years and some people want HAL to be sent to the guillotine. Any other country with an aviation complex so diverse would have doubled down on Mk2 and AMCA funding , hired tenured program heads and tied it to milestone based incentives. Unshackle HAL from the PSU pay bands , rejig its HR policies and allow it to hire the best talent out there.R&D cannot be a lab rat for the GOI’s DEI policies. टेढ़ा है पर मेरा है ।

@rishabhm Exactly why there needs to be government support for private initiatives in Aerospace/Defense. That's the only sustainable way forward.

HAL's problem is that they can't hire a critical technologist for say making a single crystal blade if he asks for $5M and independent charge. They can only offer him a role of Scientist D with a pay of ₹90K/month reporting to some Scientist F who can't even spell his name properly. And it's not HALs fault. You can't do it in any other way in a PSU. Otoh Mukhesh bhai or Gautam Bhai can offer you $50M and make a full lab for you if you can actually sort something critical out for them. This stuff needs to move to the private sector asap.

ISRO once again fails to launch strategic hyperspectral satellite, as today's PSLV launch failed. Previous hyperspectral satellite GISAT-1 (albeit of a different category) launch was also a failure. Shoddy performance has become the forte of ISRO in recent years due to poor leadership and inept scientific and technical staff. Low workmanship can be seen in this below image
