Today @_HENorth released their report #WomanOfTheNorth on the health inequality experienced by women in the North of England. The report makes key recommendations for women facing disparities including those experiencing homelessness, women with criminal justice experience and women involved in sex work, We were pleased to contribute to the research which includes our Story Chair Programme co-designed alongside women involved with the criminal justice system, and our Dismantling Disadvantage report alongside @Agenda_alliance. Our team this week welcomed Prisons Minister @JamesTCobbler to our Women’s Hub in Stockton 🤝 The team highlighted the great work they carry out in partnership with the Probation Service to support women within the Criminal Justice System, and discussed the challenges we face and hope that the Government will address.

Yesterday it was great to have @SamJRushworth visit two of our projects in County Durham. The first being Hedley House which provides safe and secure accommodation to young people aged 16-21 who are experiencing homelessness and secondly The Fells just outside of Durham City Centre supports adult males. Stephen, our Project Lead at The Fells, has worked with us for 4 years. 🙌 Starting as a Support Worker, Stephen progressed to a senior support worker and very quickly progressed to leading the project within The Fells. Stephen's passion for helping people shines through, and his own lived experience gives him a unique perspective to relate to and engage with the people we support. We know a person’s start in life doesn’t define their future. We help young people who are having a tough time with whatever they need to live a healthier, happier life - whether that’s safety, security or anything in between. 💜 Our staff teams understand what people go through and know the best ways to make things better. 🤝 We spoke to our staff team and some of the young people we support through our young people's accommodation.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded a #PrincessRoyalTrainingAward from HRH The Princess Royal and @cityandguilds for our outstanding commitment to learning and development. Over 80 managers across our services undertook our Leading With Purpose training. Our team travelled with one hundred and fifty women and children, spending the day together in the gorgeous scenery of the park. They started with a wellbeing walk, chatting with friends, exploring, climbing and making new friends. 💜

Meet our Netreach Coordinator Stella 👋 Stella spoke to us about the roles she has held in various projects supporting people who've experienced sexual exploitation, sex work or survival sex. After working as an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor through our GAP/MAP project, to working as a Data Analyst within the Adult Sexual Exploitation Partnership, Stella now manages our Netreach project supporting those subject to Online Harms and Tech Abuse. We work across the country supporting those experiencing Adult Sexual Exploitation, offering a range of support from brief intervention and advice to one-to-one consistent support centred around the person's needs. Our teams in Newcastle, Sunderland and Northumberland provide outreach to people who are sleeping rough. In times of extreme heat, the work of our outreach teams becomes more important then ever. On various occasions our teams have needed to administer CPR and call for paramedics to support those who are sleeping rough.
