Every year I work through hundreds of bills, and when I highlight them, Democrats often ask: “Is this really the most important thing to spend your time on?” Well, let’s celebrate the wisdom of the six elected Democrats who sponsored HB 1013 (2026), “relative to games wherein the object is to capture a pig.” The original bill aimed to outright ban pig scrambles at fairs because they’re “stressful” for the pigs. The final version, signed by the Governor, takes a more measured approach: it directs various stakeholders to consult, then publish best handling practices ahead of the 2027 fair season. Here’s the key language from the new law (RSA 644:8-h): So… should I set aside lowering taxes and fighting for medical transparency to file more bills creating unrealistic stakeholder working groups to discuss pig stress levels? I know this will come across as insensitive, but we need a real conversation about front line female police officers / infanteers. She shot a civilian and then ran away when the gunman came at her. She abandoned her injured partner. This is similar to what happened with female officers at the Bondi Beach massacre. Everyone has a fight or flight, but can we at least inquire as to whether women are more prone to flight? Because if so, it’s exceptionally dangerous to civilians and other officers.
