@andrew_lilico I earn £230k and own a £1.2m house with no mortgage. I pay £96k a year in tax vs less than £5k per year in tax for £30k salary. I’m more than paying my share. When the care costs at 6k a month roll in. Who’s covering it?? Not Mr £30k a year

Many of the same people who say we should tax people on £30k a year to give the proceeds to people with £ms in assets also say we should impose wealth taxes on people with £ms in assets. How about if we do neither?

Any government that taxes people on £30k a year to give the money to people with millions of pounds in assets is not going to find itself very popular for very long.

@andrew_lilico Where is the line on what the person with £1m pays for versus the responsibility for their own needs from the person earning £30k year. Why does the person earning £30k a year expect £12k a year in pension for 15 years? The tax burden is skewed too far towards one cohort.

Let's make this more concrete. Why should someone with £1m in personal assets have their social care paid for by a tax on people who earn £30,000 a year & have no assets?
Andrew Lilico@andrew_lilico

People say "Why should people with assets have to pay for social care when people without get it paid for them?" But the better question is: "Why should people who are rich enough to pay for social care for themselves get the costs of it paid for them by everyone else?"

Andry Burnham’s proposed 50% tax rate for high earners is pure insanity. Someone on student loans earning just over £100k would face a marginal tax rate of about 70%, what is the point of trying to earn more. Got government keeps 70p of every pound and I keep 30p 😂😂

@_Unknown_D_ If you're complaining about taxes you obviously don't make enough money to pay the higher rates. Most wealthy people are happy to contribute more

When Muslim community members are on a rampage, @metpoliceuk runs like a dog with its tail between its legs. Police officers were chased by Moroccan fans after losing to France in London's Edgware Road (Morocco Street). When will Sadiq Khan let the Met Police do their job properly?

The British people are about to be screwed. Labour is now openly working with international organisations like the European Convention on Human Rights, the United Nations Refugee Agency, & global multinationals, universities, & self-anointed 'community groups' to flood Britain with yet more migrants and refugees while forcing the British people to pay for it. This is all in the detail of the latest plans. What you see is not an attempt to 'empower' the British people. Quite the opposite. It is to transfer power AWAY from the people to distant, unaccountable organisations that exist beyond the realm of our national democracy and to then use these to dramatically increase the number of refugees, asylum-seekers & immigrants coming into Britain. Even worse, Labour is now doing this despite having failed to stop the boats, fix the borders, and restore any sense of public confidence and trust in the system. They are now also rapidly backtracking on other plans to tighten up indefinite leave to remain, happily handing the British people a bill of some £600 billion that will be left by giving millions of low-wage Boriswave migrants the right to stay in Britain forever, despite the British people voting for the very opposite of this, in 2019. Labour say we need more safe and legal routes to help stop illegal migration but this is bonkers. We gave 5 million people legal routes into Britain during the Boriswave and yet another 200,000 illegals still came into the country. Wake up, folks. The end result, I fear, will be total chaos, accelerating demographic change, instability, and the further erosion of public trust in politics and even democracy itself. Nobody voted for this. Nobody asked for this. And only a very few fanatics in Labour & the Greens want this. The only good news is that by veering sharply to the left on immigration and asylum, and by completely giving up on any claim to represent the British people, there will now be enormous space in British politics for a party to connect with the decent majority of hardworking Brits who have had enough of the constant gaslighting and lying in Westminster, and had enough of being treated like second-class citizens in their own country. And Reform UK will fill this space. We will speak up for the broad coalition of decent Brits who can now sense and see that they are being completely screwed over, and who know there is nothing "fair" about constantly putting the rest of the world ahead of your own taxpaying citizens.
