@dr_ericberg Pair it with blueberries and almonds and the glycemic load is very low, lower than most lunches and dinners

Dark chocolate is rich in phytonutrients, containing even more than blueberries. It may help reduce blood pressure by raising nitric oxide levels, which relaxes artery walls.

@dr_ericberg Try crooked spoon dark chocolate made right here in the state of Washington. Super thick no air over 20 g of fat, 30 g of fiber in 1 pint.

@thegarybrecka It is available at PCC natural market, Whole Foods, etc. I have checked in with Grok AI to determine that it has a lower glycemic index than what most people eat every day for breakfast lunch and dinner, especially if you mix it with nuts, such as pistachios, almonds, hazelnuts

@thegarybrecka Crooked spoon dark chocolate ice cream 1 pint has 30 g of fiber from the Coco and I believe 12 g of protein. This is real thick ice cream the healthiest ice cream arguably on the planet.

@dr_ericberg I’d also like to add that my eyes didn’t swell up the next day like they do when I have ice cream such as Ben & Jerry’s, which has more fillers and less fiber and protein

On the glycemic index, sugar is 65. Maltodextrin, a starch often hidden in “health” foods, can hit 185, nearly triple the impact. The FREE Dr. Berg Junk Food Meter app helps you identify hidden starches and sugars like maltodextrin so you can protect your health: drbrg.co/3TdAcBB

I got some ice cream from the PCC natural markets called crooked spoon, which is high in cocoa powder, which gives it a extremely high fiber content for an ice cream and also the protein that comes with which would slow the digestion, especially if you eat it with pistachios or almonds, I definitely wonder how this hits the glycemic index? I assume much much less than 65 which is sugar.

@dr_ericberg The 16 hour intermittent fast is the one thing I’ve done across all the years of seeing health improvements that was a clear winner. This is and has been regardless of vegan carnivore or neuroscientific/ketogenic diet

@dr_ericberg Hi there, I’m wondering if you support the idea that the oxalates in beetroot concentrated powder may bind with protein in kefir in a smoothie thereby making it less likely to cause kidney stones?

Rich in nitrates, antioxidants, and essential nutrients, beet juice is more than keto-friendly, it’s heart-friendly. It supports healthy blood flow, reduces oxidative stress, and protects against cardiovascular disease.

Thank you for responding! What I was hoping to get Dr. Berg opinion about would be whether he would take an organic whey protein or just stick with all whole food. The reason I wonder this is because it’s hard to eat enough food to get all your protein from food without a little cheating protein powder. Especially with middle agers like me struggling to gain muscle. I’ve never been a fan of powders, but it seems like all the older people that are gaining muscle are supplementing.

Ever wonder why the French eat bread and pasta so often… But don’t struggle with obesity like we do in the U.S.? It’s not better genetics. It’s not portion sizes. Here’s what they’re doing differently... and why it matters: 🧵
