Brain MRI can be normal in ~60% of patients with AE! If the clinical context fits and alt dx appropriately excluded, you may still dx AE. At times PET Brain can provide further objective evidence as here - but also note it’s not highly specific overall so clinical acumen is 🔑!

Our new NM1s(PGY2s), Alex and Pooja, coming in hot: giving TNK during stroke codes within their first week as neurologists! We are so proud of them! In our program, NM1s can lead stroke codes in the ED from day 1 (under the watchful eye of a senior), saving brain in real time!
