Last week I visited @MPSFirearms officers 🚓 Firearms officers volunteer for the role, and do not get paid any more than unarmed colleagues. Firearms officers deploy daily to protect us from those intent on using lethal force/weapons, dangers/threats that most cannot imagine 👏🏼

Two firearms officers who bravely confronted armed robbers more than 5 years ago have finally been cleared of wrongdoing. Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley: 'This put untold strain on their professional and personal lives.' Genuine reform of police accountability is urgently needed.

Busy day for public order today, 9 slow marches by JSO activists seeking to disrupt London. Total for this period now 124 slow marches, 97 times s12 POA conditions imposed, 67 arrests & 12,593 officer shifts, all of which could’ve been better spent keeping local communities safe.

Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.
