I think most people would have had less of an emotional reaction if they gave it one more run before this. The obvious gamble is that there would be the chance of injury or regression destroying the season, but fans would feel more closure behind this if that was the end of it.

Yall know I have no issue with being wrong so I’m not afraid to make a take that I believe it. I just think Jeff did not feel like this team had what it took to be good enough to be paying two players (LaMelo and Brandon) big money. Which I’ve said before for a while that I don’t see a world where this team pays both of them. Now I thought LaMelo would’ve been the one to stay but if my memory serves me correctly, usually teams move off the player that’s already being paid instead of the one that’s due to be paid unless the one that’s already being paid is all-nba/mvp type player. Do I feel like the decision was made prematurely and do I feel like the return maybe could of been better? Sure. But I just don’t believe moving LaMelo had anything to do with LaMelo LaFrance Ball the player or the person.

@SkyWalter_ocho Super small sample size comparative to a full season, but there are analytics that showed really promising results of Coby White and Kon Knueppel together on a per possession basis. I’m guessing they’re banking on expanding that output to replace what they lost with Melo

@CharlitHornets_ I personally don’t think Brandon’s game complements Kon’s and vice versa.. seems like Coach Lee didn’t think so either cuz he didn’t like running them together without Lamelo. Whenever he did we would have consecutive fruitless poss and then you would see Lamelo at the table
