Capital Region policing partners are out tonight to #LightUptheProvince and #LightUptheNight! Drivers, expect to see more CounterAttack roadblocks throughout December. If you’re impaired by drug and alcohol, don’t drive, make the responsible choice and plan a safe ride home. Let’s make this holiday season a safe and responsible one! #GetHomeSafeBC #YYJ @vicpdcanada @WestshoreRCMP @SidneyRCMP @OakBayPolice @cspoliceservice @BCHwyPatrol

One — Lima beans. But if I include foods I no longer eat for health reasons, the number goes up to 4. If I include foods I no longer cook because my husband has gout, the number goes up to 11.

Drove to ⁦@vicpdcanada⁩ HQ in my police vehicle & driving away in a BMW convertible with ⁦@NYIslanders⁩ color balloons. Been a blast, 35 yr policing career, 9.5 yrs as Chief! In Traffic, having big sideburns, my nickname was ‘Delvis’. Delvis has left the building!

Made the most of Del Manak Day. Gave out donuts, Tim Hortons gift cards, rode a kid’s scooter, boarded a @BCTransit bus & bought ice cream at Beacon Drive In. Probably the hardest I’ve worked as Chief! I’m exhausted. A true honour to serve at @vicpdcanada Chief for 9.5 years

Big day for a big leader! Today we celebrated Chief Del Manak and his amazing career during Del Manak Day! For over 30 years, and especially during his time leading VicPD, he's worked hard to make our city a great place to live. Here is a look back at some fun moments with the Chief as he took time today to visit residents and say goodbye with donuts, gift cards, little gifts, and ice cream! #DelManakDay Chief Manak’s Years of Leadership – Chief Manak has always believed in working with the community, not just policing it. He focused on building strong relationships with all residents, including our First Nations and cultural communities and championed programs like “Before the Badge” to increase transparency and connection. He also actively supported local sports teams like the Victoria Royals and HarbourCats and enriched the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities by supporting Special Olympics BC. During a challenging time with the overdose and drug toxicity crisis, Chief Manak led with compassion and understanding. He recognized this as a health issue, not just a policing matter, and quickly implemented programs like Naloxone training to save lives. He worked closely with health professionals and community groups to support harm reduction and provide help to those struggling with addiction. Chief Manak strongly advocated for better mental health support. He expanded access to mental health teams and created programs to connect people in crisis with the help they need. He understood that strong communities need strong mental health resources. He has been a leader in policing across the province and country sharing his knowledge and experience with other police leaders and speaking out on issues like decriminalization and human trafficking. He helped shape the future of policing in Canada. Chief Manak always cared for the well-being of our officers, making VicPD a leader in providing mental health support with access to psychologists, wellness checks, and programs to help officers return to work after an injury or leave. Chief Manak’s dedication, compassion, and commitment will be deeply missed. Thank you for your years of service @ChiefManak !

@CHEK_News Fort and Richmond is most definitely not downtown. Who wrote this? Not someone who lives on the Island. Or in Victoria.
