@mrdoornbos I can imagine. Amazing feat. Especially they way you did it. Does it automatically select and show the best decryption result?

I let a Commodore 64 run for three and a half days straight. 87 billion instructions, 303 billion clock cycles, 5.9 million candidate settings tested. It cracked an Enigma message in German without knowing a single character of the plaintext. 🧵1/2

@Erwin_de_Jong @fia 50 year fan here, I haven’t watched 1 race this year, cancelled my F1TV subscription as well. This clownshow has nothing left that makes my F1 heart beating fast, if it weren’t for the crash I saw in the news today. And that wasn’t because of joy. F1 is dead as it is now.

30 years as an F1 fan. The last races broke something. Qualifying should have me on the edge of my seat. Instead I watched Alonso, Verstappen, Norris and Leclerc stand at the microphone looking genuinely defeated. That says everything. We want screaming engines. Slipstream battles at 300km/h. Overtaking decided by courage and setup — not by who managed their battery best. Porsche ignored their fans and pushed electric. Nobody wanted it. Nobody bought it. F1, you are making the exact same mistake. The drivers warned you. The fans warned you. You went ahead anyway. And the timing makes it worse. Mercedes did the work, played by the rules, and built the best system. Rewarding that with a rule reversal is also not fair. You might as well hand them the next 5 championships and call it done. Give us racing back. The kind that made us fall in love with this sport in the first place. @F1 the 30-year fans are still here but at moment no words for what I am looking at.

@BrianEastwoodx @Serene_Necrosis it was the good old time when we pretended to have "accidentally" broken our mercury thermometers just to have fun playing with those little balls! And for those asking, yes, I am 58 and alive (& no, that doesn't make it a good toy!)

This Lone Ranger Atomic Bomb ring was distributed by Kix cereal in the late 40's, for 15 cents and a mail-in box top. It was actually a spinthariscope containing radioactive Polonium-210 (one of the most toxic substances out there). A child would take the toy into a pitch-black room, remove the tail cap from the 'bomb', and look through a tiny lens to see flashes of light from the Polonium-210 atoms decaying into Lead-206.

@DrHelenFry Definitely books. And curiosity, aggregated due to the fact that my parents did not want to talk about their experiences during the war. In recent times I found out why. (Netherlands)

I wonder how long it will be before someone without first-principles knowledge lets an automated AI use their computer to make router changes at a provider, and it resets half the internet. I'd put money on this being 100% odds.
